Subject: Black,,,,,,,thing inside tree line.

I was hunting the bush of BC's south interior and sitting up on a rock looking down and across a clearing about 70 yards to a sparse tree line. The sun was up and I witnessed an ink black shape moving quickly along and just inside the trees. I saw it moving for about 3-4 seconds and then it disappeared as quick as it had appeared. I was stunned thinking first a bear from the size and shape but it was like it was gliding and had no movement of legs, or arms, or even wings. After about 15 minutes I went down across the clearing expecting to see tracks in the snow but there was nothing. When I first saw it I was alert, then I felt perplexed by what I had seen. At finding no tracks of its passing I became bewildered and then alerted again. I hurried to my truck half looking forward and half back. This happened 7 - 8 years ago and since then I have been tempted to return but I'm apprehensive.

I am still looking for answers to what I have seen. If anyone has similar stories or insight I would like to hear it. Feel free to contact me at david@pgsafety.ca

Subject: Black shodowed hat man

Hi my name's Bobby, I'm 15 years old and have been seeing these shadows since I can remember. I have named one of them Rodrick, because to not be afraid of something, you should give it a less scary name. I see Rodrick mostly when I'm going to bed; he stands very tall in the corner of my room and stares at me. I often see him in mirrors and I see him in certain other rooms in my house. I see more than one type of shadow man. Rodrick is black with a hat on but some are black with no hat and bright, white, glowing eyes, and some are just white. I don't know what this means but I don't assume it's a bad thing. I know someone with the same condition as me and she says it's a gift.

Though Rodrick still scares me, as sometimes as I'm nodding off, he will stand right by my bed where my head is. Sometimes I have these moments where I'm aware of my surroundings but I can't move and this can bring on memories that aren't mine or can lead for these shadow people to move and talk.

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but just some advice: usually just tell it to go away and it will, maybe not forever, but it will and giving it a name always helps. Pick a funny one too and tell people you trust and understand what you're going through.

Subject: Shadow people and the third eye

This is part of my life story.

I know that ghosts do exist because I have been having different kinds of contacts with them since I was fifteen years-old.

About shadow people, I started to see them in my dreams some time ago, or so I thought. I few years ago I started to realize that I was not dreaming it all, I was actually entering their dimension and my dreams, so I thought, weren't really dreams. I came to realize that I had been using my pineal gland, or third eye, as most people call it. I actually feel the surge of energy from my pineal gland through my lobes strait to my forehead.

Not only do I see them, but I enter their dimension in spiritual form and they are very aware of my presence. They don't seem to like it at all because most of the time they attack me and I can feel everything; or sure I say, my body feels everything, as if I were here with them in physical form, is unbelievable. Only once, did one of them spoke to me, I only remember that he grabbed me by the neck, as if I had a shirt on, and said " you.............." , but I don't remember the rest, I just remember that when he addressed me as 'you', he seemed to be outraged. In their dimension our astral bodies feel solid but the thing is, that they can also go right through my body but so can I go through theirs as well. The bad thing is that my physical body feels it all.

I know that there are others like me, I know I'm not the only person in the world that can do this, that I'm sure of it. I would like to hear from others with similar experiences.

Subject: Shorty Shadow Story

It was a cold night, and I had already fallen into auto-pilot by the time I reached the meandering road that led to my home. I had driven this road thousands of times, and aside from the occasional wreck it, was incredibly uneventful. This night would prove different. This night would welcome me into another world, a world where darkness isn't merely a term, a world where it is a thing - a living thing.

As I approached the overpass I could faintly see a man walking in my lane, he was walking towards me. From this distance nothing seemed awry, the man seemed to err on the cautious side of life, wanting to be seen by oncoming traffic. I slowed a bit and continued towards the bridge.

The closer I got to him the more illuminated the area around him became, the same was not true for the man himself. He remained as dark as he had been since I first laid eyes on him. Black, blacker than the blackest night. He had arms that had hands, he had legs that had feet, he had a head, but his head had no face. I knew from this distance that I was not looking at a man in my path.

I was about 10 yards away at this point, and I had slowed to a crawl. He had absolutely no concern for my presence, and as I approached he climbed the guardrail and jumped to the interstate below.

I have an instinctual desire to tell you that I stopped, that I leapt out of my car, ran to the guardrail, and looked. I did not.

This black creature was so hauntingly hollow, so void of life, so captivating and terrifying, I drove in shock, and I drove as fast as I could.

I have seen thousands of these "shadow people" since this first encounter. They live in the night, they hide in the shadows, but even in the darkest of corners they are visible - they are darker than dark. They walk together and they walk alone. They are inside and out. They follow, and they surround.

I make no attempt to explain them. They are what they are. I have yet to see one cause harm, or act with malicious intent. However, believe me when I tell you - when you are alone in the dark, they are there.

This story is true. I have attempted to write it in a way that might allow you to connect with my experience. If you would like to know more about me, or if you have any questions regarding this incident explore the links below.

Subject: shadow woman

It all started when I was feeling kinda sick so I called out of work. My wife and I were in disagreement about my calling off, so an all-day argument followed.

Well, by the time 12 midnight rolled around she was set on making me sleep on the couch so I was making the best of it by watching a little TV but no she wouldn't have it. She came in and turned all the lights out and the TV. I, being a typical man, said, "Fine that don't bother me in the least."

I was lying there just thinking about the way things had turned out when I noticed a figure crouched down at the hall doorway. I laughed out loud thinking, 'how stupid could you be? You just turned out the lights and now you're trying to scare me.'

The figure was shifting side to side and kinda bouncing up and down a little as if trying to see me better. It had on what appeared to be a large rimed hat. It was very dark, darker than shadow, you know; the kind of darkness that has mass behind it. It appeared to have a cloak around it or a shawl, not around the head, just where the shoulders would be. Anyway I said to it, (because I thought it was my wife), "What the hell you doing? Your not scaring me," but the thing just moved a little forward and kept slowly bobbing around.

At this point I was getting annoyed at my wife for not responding, so I raise my voice and threaten to through my shoe at her. It was at that moment my wife called to me from the bedroom and said, "Who are you talking to? You better not be on the phone."

I froze, cold chills went all over me. Whatever this was, it clearly wasn't my wife. It started hobbling toward me. I screamed like a woman and jumped for the lamp, knocking over several items on the coffee table. It kept coming at me. I fumbled for the light and just as it got to me I got the light on and it disappeared. To this day I don't know what it was but it was not a ghost; it had immediate intelligence. I mean it responded like intelligent being not like a ghost stuck in the same routine. I don't know but these things are here and this one wanted me. I just thank god the light made it vanish.

Subject: Friend

My girlfriend had left her husband after 9 years around Thanksgiving 2011, after she left her husband, I received a message from him on Facebook asking for help to get them back together, that he knew I was her best friend and is always there for her. He said he was a shell without her and basically was lifeless without her. He begged for my help, I didn't respond though I was friends with him as well I knew all the sides of the story and didn't want to get involved, just support my friend's feelings and hoped that they would work it out.

My son was with me at work the very first day that I actually saw the dark shadow, my son looked at me and I looked at him. The shadow was out of the corner of our eyes but it ran in front of my office door, it was small in size and not very tall. I could see flesh color around the wrist of the shadow and some odd color, like a friendship bracelet perhaps. My son and I both shook our heads in disbelief.

A couple of days later, I saw the shadow in that very same spot as last and again it darted in front of my office door. It appeared in my car as I was driving home in the passenger seat. Another time I pulled into the carport and he jumped off the hood of my car, I know I saw what I saw but couldn't believe my eyes or didn't know why I was being called upon by whomever.

On December 18, 2011, my friend's husband died, the chills still go down my back when I think about the shadow and the timeline this has all taken place over. Was he trying to communicate to me? His death was an accidently overdose, which is very tragic. Past that day I have not seen the shadow anymore. :(

My name is Anthony and about 3 weeks ago I was getting ready for bed and then I went to lie down. I started to doze off and out of the corner of my eye I saw something come out of the top of the closet and go up the wall and rest in the corner of the room on the ceiling. Then I blinked. When I opened my eyes, it shot off, and started to crawl around the ceiling in random directions but toward me. It felt like it was trying to touch me, to take me some where I don't remember. Before it started coming towards me, I could hear a voice in my head saying, "Follow me... Come with..." Then when it came at me, "To hell!!!!!!" I got up and grabbed my bible then it disappeared. Since then I sleep with my bible under my pillow.

Subject: Possible shadow people experience?

Early this morning while sleeping in bed I experienced something... I suddenly woke up (sleeping on my back) just in time to see something slam into me, centered on my chest, from somewhere above and out in front of me. I caught a very vague and quick glimpse of a woman with long hair. I could make out the definite curvy and slim form of her left side from her head, neck and shoulder. She seemed to be made of a black smoke-like substance? I think I felt some kind of pressure on my chest as this happened. She vanished over 1-2 seconds after impacting me, with her form disappearing into smoky tendrils. I couldn't make out any features in this "shadow-woman's" face. Her face was kind of off to my left side and my vision was focused on her left ear to her left shoulder. When the impact happened I was semi-alert and put out my arms/hands out to my sides to brace myself from whatever it was and to try and push myself forward and out of bed. When I did this I think I woke my wife up and she asked if I was alright. I responded nothing was wrong and I went back to sleep. Before I went back to sleep I turned off my night-table lamp which was on apparently and I did not remember ever turning it on.

I have no marks on my skin where I think I must have made contact. If it makes any difference: I do sometimes get nightmares if I were to eat something with an hour or less before going to bed. Or at least I think that is the cause? I however did not eat anything that close to bed-time last night. I take allergy/asthma medication at night (flonase/rhincort nasal spray, flovent inhaler and zyrtec pills) but have taken this for years and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I also use a CPAP every night to help with breathing/snoring/mild sleep apnea.

If you find this account useful, I give you permission to upload this to the Official Shadow People Archive.

This happened about 2 years ago. I was watching TV one night and all of a sudden I just became aware of something in the doorway directly to the left of my TV. When I looked I saw black hands on the edge of the doorway and a dark, dark, black creature type thing peek around extremely slow and stared directly at me. I remember when it looked into me, I had an overwhelming feeling of depression and sadness to the point that I instantly cried without knowing why. It slowly pulled itself out of view again and it was gone. It had no vivid features just a black skinny human shaped thing. To this day I wish I knew why this thing made me feel the way I did and I still feel when retelling the story.

I was living in a small one bedroom apartment with my now ex-husband. He had fallen asleep before me, as usual, and I lay facing our bathroom and closet. The time was anywhere between 10 and 12. There was a large section in the bathroom/closet area where it was just shadow. It was so dense, the door was not visible; which was normal.

As I lay there, I see this *thing *come out of the shadows... It was a solid black being crawling on the wall, just below the ceiling. However, it didn't crawl like a person on hands and knees. The only way I can describe it is that it crawled like a frog would walk. Kind of like a jerky, skip crawling movement...I guess that sounds silly, but that's the only way I can say it. My ex slept closer to the bathroom/closet side, and this thing crawled across somewhat slowly. I was scared, of course. But I'm rather skeptical about paranormal things, so I closed my eyes. I believed that my mind was playing tricks on me and I was seeing things. Unfortunately, I did this several times, and the thing was getting closer to my side of the room. My heart raced, and I didn't know what to do. Like an idiot, I didn't wake up my ex. I watched as it got closer to my side from the corner of my eye, but when it got to the point where I wouldn't be able to see it; I moved to keep it in sight. The moment I moved, the thing bounded across the wall and jumped into the shadows. It took about maybe two minutes for this thing to crawl across the wall, and less than a second to bound back into the shadows. I was terrified, and sure that whatever I saw was not friendly. Amazingly enough though, I actually fell asleep.

I never saw it again. I can't explain what I saw, and I never researched until recently. I guess I just didn't want to believe what I saw.

Thanks for reading my story. I have heard a lot about shadow people, I can't seem to find any stories on the kind of creature I saw. If you've heard anything similar, please let me know.

Me and my friends have always been followed, spoken to, and touched by unnatural or paranormal things and personally, I've been touched. But one night, me and my friends were walking down a dark lane between a train track and an empty field (don't know if that's relevant but i thought i'd add it anyway). This particular night we had the feeling of being followed, as we walked down this lane me and one of my friends noticed a figure further up the lane; just a dark figure which appeared to be walking a dog. It was walking at first, then when me and my friend looked at each other and asked if we could both see it, we looked back and it had jumped much closer towards and it was still walking. It didn't seem surprised that we were looking at it all. It seemed to be quite sinister, like it had a job to do. We didn't see how it left because our other friends dragged us away, however, me and my friend wanted to walk towards it. We felt compelled to but because our friends were scared, and one was in tears, we left. It wasn't a very long time but it was long enough to scar your memory of the exact moment. We didn't see how it appeared or disappeared. We've always had strange things happen to us but this was the only thing that has puzzled us.

I am quite happy for you to publish this on your website.

thanks

I awoke last night with a strange feeling as if I were being watched. As I usually do when I wake up in the middle of the night, I look at the time from the cable box on top of the TV at the foot of my bed; it was a little after 1:30. That's when I noticed it. Standing beside the TV at the foot of my bed, stood a dark figure, female, to the best of my understanding.

At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but as I peered upon it, I was overwhelmed by pure and utter terror; something I had never felt before. I tried to move or to call out but my body was unresponsive. It drew near in an eerie fashion, not walking, but simply gliding closer. As it made its way to my midsection, I closed my eyes and managed to let out a meek cry and when I opened my eyes it was nowhere to be seen. I have been thinking about it all day and I am terrified to have another run in with this otherworldly being.

This has happened to me twice: once in my childhood home and another time in my older brother's apartment.

The first time I saw a shadow person I was asleep. I have experienced sleep paralysis far too often. I can see everything in the room I am in except my eyes are closed. I feel as if I am in my body but still out of it just observing what is around me.

Ok, the first time this happened, I was napping on the couch during the day. My mom had gone shopping so I was alone in the house except for my cats. I was on the couch asleep when I felt something near me. I was still asleep and now aware of what was in my living room, enter in my sleep paralysis. I could not move and it scared me.

Then all of a sudden a dark shadowy thing entered into my view. It was just screaming at me and moving it's face side to side super fast till it was a blur. I had no way of telling if it was male or female, even the voice was hard to discern. It just kept saying my name over and over again and laughing. I laid there trying hard to move because this was scaring me. Finally, I was able to move and the face just pulled out of my view and floated away into the wall.

The second time, I was doing laundry at my older brother's apartment. I was watching tv in his bedroom and ended up falling asleep. The dryer made a buzzing sound when it was done and it had woken me up at least once while I was there. So I just napped. I was asleep and then all of a sudden someone screamed out my name and kept asking if I could hear them. I was lying on my back and watching as this shadow man smiled at me and laughed asking if I could hear him. I jolted out of the bed and ran to this living room desperate to get out of the bedroom. His cats were there and I pulled them close and fell back asleep.

Both times I was alone and both times these things talked to me. I wish I was not so terrified I could talk back but it usually just freaks me out too badly.

I was about twelve years-old and playing in the woods at my grandmother's house in N.J., when I encountered a shadow person. I was standing on a tree stump, that conjoined to a full grown tree. I was in my own world - just enjoying jumping off the stump and swinging around. I got ready to jump off the stump again when for some reason I felt a presence. I looked over my left shoulder and there stood shadow person - right behind the tree next to me, about 5 inches from my face. It just stood there, it did not move. It was in a leaning position, like it had been peeking at me. The figure felt male, about 5'10", solid black, I could not see through it. I was just face to face with its head and shoulders.

It did not feel evil at all, just curious. I can remember feeling embarrassed later because I had been play acting and I thought it may have been there a while. I left before 'he' did, because it terrified me so badly. I flew from the scene of the figure to my grandmother's house. My uncles and father went looking for it, but did not really believe me. They were looking for a man- but I explained it was solid black, not a real man.

Hello. My name is Haley. My shadow people experience was about 6 years ago when I was 11 years old. We lived in this new built tiny one story house in my hometown of Fort Wayne. One night during my summer break, I had my first paranormal experience, and it was with a shadow person. It was very hot in my room. A little too hot to sleep, may I add. To get away from the heat, I moved myself to the living room and onto the couch. I laid there for a while wide awake until suddenly my garage opened. Granted, my house was VERY tiny so when the garage opened it was very loud. I just thought: 'Oh, it's just my uncle dropping something off', because my uncle Jason does do that from time to time.

The door leading to the garage in the kitchen opened. I hid myself under the blanket so Jason wouldn't tell my mom that I was awake. I heard footsteps in the kitchen and whoever walked into the house just stood in there for about 5 minutes. Then they walked out the garage again. I thought that it was very odd so I got off of the couch and went into the garage. What I saw shocked me. A black figure, no features at all, stood at the back of the garage. It turned around and there was no features but two yellow tinted eyes. I slammed the door and to my room and locked the door. It was the worst feeling I have ever experienced. I haven't had any other experience with the paranormal since them. This experience is the reason why shadow people are my worst fear.

When I was about 8 and my sister was 6, we shared a room at my grandmother's. My sister kept telling my mom about the 'shadow person' that would stand at the end of my bed every night, whispering things to me in a language she didn't know, but scared the hell out of her. But my mom wasn't worried. Then when it would talk to me while I was asleep, I'd start to sleep walk and follow it. Even then my mom wasn't worried. Then one night my sister said that instead of sleep walking, I stood at the end of my bed facing the shadow being, and started screaming in the creepy language it spoke. Then after some time, I fell straight back and the creature disappeared. There are many more stories from before this time and after, but this one freaks me out the most.

Subject: Shadow people short story

My experience with a shadow person was from the summer of 2004. I've never had anything that I believed to be paranormal until this night.

When my friend and I were young, we took late night walks in our quiet neighborhood. It was roughly 1 a.m. and cars rarely drive through unless they lived there. We were heading back to my house after a nice long walk, facing a four way intersection. There was one street light hanging over the four way, when I saw a man sprinting across the street and running under the light. My friend also saw the shadow person; she described a shadowy man running. I saw him more clearly it was a solid silhouette of a man that was normal height (6'0'') with very short hair and strong muscles dart from behind the trees into the street. He didn't seem to know we had seen him at all just that he was running from something. He ran behind some trees at the other side of the street, my friend and I were brave and ran to the intersection and looked to where he was headed but he had vanished. We reenacted the moment, he made no noise and we clearly would have seen more physical features when he ran under the street light. We both looked at each other with fear on our faces it was a hard night to fall asleep.

Subject: Encounter with a big, ugly shadow man

Hello.

I have one big, black, blobby shadow person that won't stop watching me. I swear, I've got one that is freaking me out.

Two weeks ago, this black blob was standing by my bed when I woke up in the middle of the night..like he was watching me. When I saw him, he disappeared. I lit incense and prayed and chanted the next day and figured that would be the end of it.

Last night this great big black humanoid form was watching me through the sliding glass door in the backyard. Whoever, or whatever this thing is...it feels malevolent and it gives me the super creeps. It just watched me...then disappeared. My dog, Louie went ballistic and has been for a few nights now. He's with me every minute.

I told my husband and he told me to burn sage all through the house. So I did and prayed to God and Jesus for protection and also asked Archangel Michael for protection. I also visualized white light covering me, my home, and my neighborhood. Then I asked for protection for my family and friends too.

These things give me the serious creeps. It feels like they are bringing bad stuff...negative, scary stuff. Almost like they were bringing bad things to come.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of these guys? I don't want them anywhere around me.

I am 13 years old and I have had about three encounters with shadow people. I have a condition(?) called Hypnagogia. Where when I try to sleep sometimes I feel pressure on my body and cannot move. I experience hallucinations and hear things. My first encounter was when I was 7. I was in my bed trying to sleep when I noticed a dark, short figure in the corner of my bedroom.

It motioned it's arm to come over and I did. I turned on the light and it disappeared. My second encounter was last year. I was in my bed when this time, it was right in front of me. Standing there, as darker than black itself. The third time was two days ago, I was at my moms house when i saw it. I saw the shadowy figure walk across the room. The figure I have been seeing for about half my life was about as tall as me, 6' and was watching me, always. I have felt it behind me while I was walking once, but that's it.

Subject: The Shadow Event

This happened back when I was 12 years old.

I was laying in my bed when I noticed one of my toy's shadow was moving. I took a closer look and it was though it was scanning the area; the shadow was moving left and right with its hand above its eyes, like a scout would, to get sun out of his eyes. (Pretty odd since it was night.) I grabbed the toy and threw it inside a box, and went to sleep in the living room since I was getting really scared.

I woke up after feeling like something had ran over me, something with legs. Then I looked out and saw a large number of shadow people. All of them were short, big heads and small bodies. Their front arms, long, which some of them liked to walk with, and scurrying around almost mindlessly. Only a few would stop to look at me then go about their business. Except for the big one I noticed behind them, next to the front door.

He was simply standing there, tall and still like a suit of armor. His form was unlike the others, much more humanoid. He never moved an inch the entire time; just watched me.

I was terrified and threw the covers over my head, and squeezed them around me. Once in a while, I felt like something was running over me again, something four-legged. (We had a dog, but this was not normal behavior if it was him.) Oddly enough, I heard one of my RC toys moving around. This RC had no batteries in it to even move if it wanted too.

Somehow I eventually found sleep, woke up and told my parents the story. They filled me up with prescriptions after this event and I still get the coldest chills when I think hard about what happened that night. There was no feelings attached about danger, or safety, like all the other stories I heard; just the ominous feeling of fear from the odd happenings. What happened was very traumatic for me, regardless of it being real, or my mind making it all up for me.

Editor's Note:

The toy was a Flick Room Guard action figure.

Subject: man in the straw hat

Hi, my name is Charlie.

I have not personally seen this "shadow person" but do believe something of his existences. I worked at a nursing home for the elderly for 13 years, and always have heard about the man in the straw hat that would appear during the night shift. This supposedly has happened since the nursing home was built and numerous of staff members and residents have seen him.

I never believed until I really started actually listening back in 1999. I worked the day shift 7 am to 3 pm, and an awful lot of overtime, from 3 to 11 pm. I even work 11pm to 7am later on for additional hours for extra money, but always heard but never seen, this "man in the straw hat". Well this one resident did, that I took care of, and all I can say is, that when she saw him, a resident would pass away within 24 hours after her sighting. I started believing in him because of her. Every time she saw him, someone would die. She never felt that, never knew someone would pass on. She only saw him.

She was never freaked out by him, until she saw him one night, and was all of a sudden convinced he was coming after me. She saw him for at least 3 times in a row convinced I was going to die, a fear before she never had before, and I got worried. This man in the straw hat, I always thought of as a reaper was after me! Nothing ever happened. No one that I remembered died after the last sighting, that I know of and I'm here right now 3/25/2012 writing this to u. What do u think what happened?

Charlie

Subject: My experience

I was away at college in upstate New York during the spring semester of 2008.

It was around 3-:30am and my roommate and I decided to call it a night. All the lights were turned off and only the radio was on extremely low. We both were facing the same way, towards the window that spanned the whole 10 feet of our small dorm room.

We both had our eyes closed for a good 15 minutes or so and both half sleeping when I suddenly awoke. From the laying down on my back position, my upper body shot straight up. The motion was so quick and was just like a very fast 'sit-up' to better describe how it looked. So I shot straight up and popped my eyes open. From the window, towards the top, a dark figure with a face that looked like a demon almost shot straight towards me; the face getting bigger as it neared. It had its mouth open and went straight inside me. I felt it come into my body and immediately, I shot back down on my back, laying down.

I felt paralyzed, the most terror anyone could imagine, the pure feeling of terror. It passed through and went straight through the wall behind me. If that's not weird enough, I had finally been able to move again once the terror had passed and let what 'just happened' soak in. After about 10 minutes, I said "Yo, the craziest thing just happened to me but honestly, you would think I'm straight crazy."

He says, "Wait. I was trying to sleep but then I got this picture in my head of you, shooting straight up out of a dead sleep and some dark figure going into you, then, you shooting down and it passing through the wall."

I still don't know the significance but it entered me and I felt it.

Ever since I was small, I've felt like I've had a weird connection with the universe around me, like being overly observant and able to connect with my spiritual side without having to actually try. I've seen/ heard/ experienced things a lot of people think of as a lie or having some other catalyst that would explain the "paranormal" part of the happening. I've done a lot of research on why these things could be happening but out of every explanation comes more questions.

I was eleven years old at the time, and my father had a girlfriend who lived in a fairly old house. I shared a bed with my sister and two other young girls that lived in the house this night because we expected it to snow that night and were all excited.

We go to sleep and everything is fine until I open my eyes and see that it's daylight. The first thing my eyes fix on is the alarm clock. 5:25 a.m. I look over and everyone is asleep and I peek out of the window above the bed to see if it had snowed. Dejected, I sit back down on the bed because it didn't snow, and I look up and there is a dark figure of a man standing in the doorway of the room. Probably around six feet tall, but what struck me as odd was that he was wearing a top hat. I couldn't distinguish anything but his silhouette, with that top hat on. There was also a shorter, lighter grey figure next to the dark man, that was less intimidating, and I always thought, was a little girl. I was terrified and all of this happened in about 30 seconds probably, and I ended up burying under the covers and being to afraid to even cry. More so afraid of the situation, and what I was seeing than the actual physical being. My father chalked it up as just a dream. But I KNOW I was awake. To this day if I'm awake at 5:25 am I will close my eyes until I know the time has passed.

Subject: My Experience

This is the first and only sighting I have had my entire life. I am now 19 and this happened when I was around 6 or 7 years old.

I lived in an old style house which, I believe, used to be a house for men who were working on a railroad nearby (I'm unsure what that dates back to). My bedroom was at the front of the house with my bed facing directly towards a window. One bright and sunny morning which I remember seemed very peaceful, I had just woke to my Mum mowing the front lawn. As I gazed out the window on the beautifully bright day, I saw it. The figure was completely black, I could see no features just the outline of what, I would say, was a middle aged man.

The figured stepped from the right and stood as if peering through my window for about 3 seconds, and then continued to step out of sight to the left of the window. I didn't feel at all scared, in fact, I felt as if it was a 'normal' thing. The way it appeared was as if 'he' just wanted to check out who was in the room. I have not seen anything the same since, but this memory is very clear to me and I have thought of it quite a lot since it happened. I don't think I ever mentioned it to anyone until a couple of years later - as I said, at the time, I felt as if it were 'normal' and that it wasn't there to be afraid of.

I am very interested in this type of thing; I always wait and hope to see something like that again because it is greatly intriguing! But no luck as yet. Feel free to post this on your site, I hope this helps

Hello, I'm a female in my 20's and I'm form Nor-Cal (Northern California). This is a true story from West Sacramento.

So I moved in to a very nice apartment with my sister. The people living there are my sister, her boyfriend, her 1 1/2 year old, my 4 month old son, and myself. The shadow person, in this apartment, only shows up in the master bath. There's more than this that goes on here but this is the shadow person story. So when you walk into the bathroom, you first see the sink then the toilet to right. You go around a slight corner where the toilet is and the walk-in shower with fog glass is next to it.

Whenever I take a shower and I'm looking away for the showerhead at the tiles, I can see the toilet and sink to my left, out of the corner of my eye. Now every time I shower in there I see a shadow person standing in between the sink and toilet. It looks as if it would be a shadow of a female from head to toe; small 5ft tall. Then the shadow runs at me from the wall in between the sink and toilet and stops right next to me outside the shower. From here it's 5'5'' 5'7'' and looks wide in the shoulder like a man. And when I turn to look nothing is there, so I look at the tile and from the corning of my eye there it is by the toilet. And it keeps doing this over and over. Every time I shower, from start to finish, it runs at me, then seems to start over each time I blink. I feel it's a man and I feel a wall of hate hit me every time it stops at the glass. My sister and I have seen a lot of ghosts in our life and this was the maddest we have felt. I no longer live there.

Now my husband came home from the war in 2009 and we moved to San Diego where I almost died having my 2nd son. A year after that we moved to Tennessee. I've had no ghosts/shadows from the corner of my eye since my 'almost death'. But I do believe in Heaven with no doubt now.

Subject: sleep study shadow person

I have been a sleep technologist (RPSGT) for approximately 14 years now, and have performed thousands of sleep studies on patients of all ages. The incident I am going to tell you about happened approximately 10 years ago.

The patient was a middle-aged woman whose chief complaint was, "I don't feel rested in the morning". Her occupation was listed as a Spiritualist. I have to admit I thought she was some kind of nut at first however she was pleasant, cooperative and engaging.

Lights out was at approximately 22:00 hours; patient’s sleep onset was shortly thereafter. At approximately 00:30 hours, I observed a dark figure move into infrared camera view at the foot of the patient’s bed. I immediately informed the second technician on duty, who was sitting right beside me, that someone was in the patient’s room. We both ran into the patient’s room and searched the room for an intruder but no one was found. Furthermore, the patient was unaware of our presence in the room.

The next morning, after all of the patients left, the 2nd technician and I reviewed the infrared recording, and saw what appeared to be a solid black figure approximately 72 inches tall moving into view at the foot of the patients bed. The recording also showed the figure responding to the 2nd technician and myself entering the room. The figure moved to the left hand side of the patient’s bed and then appeared to move though the wall at the head of the bed.

We were told not to make note of the incident and not to inform the patient. This was the first and only time I observed a ‘shadow person’ during a sleep study.

You have my permission to print this without my email address or name. I need my job.

I’m 26 and from London. I live in a two bedroom flat with my girlfriend and two children.

A few months ago, I started waking up terrified for no reason, shaking and everything. This happened a few times. Then one night, I slept on the sofa due to an argument with my girlfriend. I remember opening my eyes and being instantly awake with a strange feeling like someone was very close to me. It was so intense that I was panicking. When I looked around the room I saw, in the doorway of my kitchen, this dark shape, half inside and half behind the doorframe. It was blacker than the dark. There was only light from the windows in the room with me and yet I saw it so clearly standing there, watching me. I couldn’t move or make a sound. I just closed my eyes through panic and when I opened them, it was gone. I have had the same thing three nights in a row. Then one night I woke up being shaken about and I can’t make a sound or fight back. I always have ‘a feeling’ before I go to sleep that, it is going to happen. I can feel if it’s there even before I sleep.

He hasn’t bothered me for a few weeks now thank god, lol, but it was a real strange experience that changed my outlook on everything. The world isn’t such a boring place in my eyes.

Subject: My shadow person!

Hi there, it is nice to finally tell my story to others who are interested and open to such things.

I live in a very old house and am alone in it a lot of the time. About three years ago, I was sitting on the couch, lights on, TV on, when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was a smoke-like form, black, not grey or light black, very black, about three feet tall, no real shape to it at all, more wispy. I turned my head to get a better look at it went through an old pocket door into the dining room.

My initial feeling was curiosity, then I felt somewhat freaked out at what I had seen. There was no feeling that this entity was dangerous or evil, it almost seemed as if it knew the house.

I have seen "shadowman" many times throughout the years here and even my step children have reported seeing it, without any prior knowledge of him from me. (I don't know why I refer to it as a male, it just seems to be) It may be several months, even a year, before he shows up again but he always seems to disappear into the same room. He moves so fast that if you blink, you will miss him. He never touches the ground but is a few inches above it.

I almost find him to be comforting now that I have gotten used to the fact he will show up from time to time, and that nothing bad has ever been associated with him. Two people have passed away in this house and I have always wondered if that has something to do with him. Anyway, this is my story and thanks for giving an opportunity to share! If you wish to use my story, this is fine with me.

Subject: Shadow person experience

We moved into our home in October 2011. After the first month, I began hearing what sounded like footsteps upstairs and sometimes even whispers.

In February of 2012 my husband and son were asleep. We have a video monitor in my son,s room. I go into my room to go to bed after brushing my teeth. I laid down and suddenly felt the need to roll over and look at the monitor. I turn over and look and I see my son (who is 2 years old) sleeping in the back left corner of his crib. In front of him but behind the bars to the crib I see a shadowy blob moving around. There was no real definitive shape but it almost looked like another child sitting up and moving around in his crib.

I turned over and woke my husband. As he was trying to adjust his eyes, the blob receded, what looked liked, into the mattress. He dismissed it but I was so terrified that I ran upstairs to check on my son.

I checked to see if his blanket or pillow were in the area where I had seen the shadow but they were both at the far right side of the crib. He, (my son), was fast asleep and didn't seem at all bothered by whatever had just happened. I felt very uneasy and scared while in his room. So uneasy, that he slept with us that night and the following night.

Since then I have seen no shadow figures in his monitor but sometimes I see them out of the corner of my eye while watching TV. I still hear the footsteps and whispers from time to time and have the feeling that someone is always watching me.

We will be moving in October, hopefully to a home with no shadow figures.

Subject: Shadow people story

Well, I have a shadow person story. I have only told this story to a small handful of people because I learned a long time ago the hard way that there are just some people you can't discuss these types of things with. Fear of judgment has kept me silent. So, here it goes.

I've seen shadows all my life in passing for the most part. But when I was, oh I don't even know, about 5 or so? I woke up and was lying in bed one night. My parents always left the hall light on because I was terrified of the dark, for good reason. I woke up and looked to the door and there was a shadow standing there. HUGE! Not human. My parents have 8 foot high ceilings and it hunched over a bit to keep from brushing its head. It was odd because it had almost like a Bart Simpson shaped head with little points. And bright red glowing eyes.

It walked around the foot of my bed to the side where I was laying. When it moved, it looked really strange, like a projector. It flickered.hard to describe. I was terrified. I couldn't move. I tried to scream and couldn't. Only short croaks of sound left my mouth. When it got to me, it leaned over and started to put its hand over my face. Its hand was HUGE.pointed fingers! Don't know if they were claws or what. Like I said, it was a shadow. Right before it touched my face, I managed to break free and scream.

Once I did, it disappeared, I guess. All the lights went out. The hall light went off. My parents always heard me if I made the slightest sound. They never woke up and came to check on me that night though. I pulled my head under the covers and cowered until I passed out. I remember it all just like it was yesterday and it still gives me the creeps. But now that I'm a 31 year old woman, more than anything it pisses me off. I have dared it more than once to come visit me now that I'm not a terrified child. I has yet to take me up on that offer.

So that's my story. And yes, you have my full permission to use it on your website. Also, thank you for putting this site together.
