I have seen them since I was a child. In 60 years, I have only heard it speak only once. Praying the Our Father and calling on the name of Jesus makes them leave screaming.
It always starts with a wave of paralysis and sheer terror. I cannot speak nor move and when it comes… is often a brutal attack and I feel a great weight pressing me into the mattress. Breath leaves and it’s a fight for life.
After screaming...
“In the name of Jesus, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus!“
...it hesitated and backs away. (My) courage is regained and I pray the Our Father and give Glory and Praise to Jesus. Then the room becomes normal again and after 30-45 minutes, I return to sleep.
But I must confess, it is never easy. I never get use to them but I am strengthened only by the protection of Jesus. Without Him, I would surely have gone mad.
I have been physically assaulted only twice, once as a child. It repeated three blows to my head.
And once while on retreat…
Both forearms (midway and to the wrists) were lacerated. I immediately went to the chapel and put holy water on the wounds, and they healed within hours. Not a mark was left.
Lastly, in my twenties, I was in the car at night with a girlfriend and I felt “its” presence. I just had parked to drop her off at home. It was standing in the middle of the street on the median that separates traffic. I asked my friend if she saw anything in the street and she said yes and that it was a man all dressed in black, very tall but couldn’t see a face. From then on it was confirmed that these demons were real.
But we know that Jesus has the victory always!!!

This experience happened during my childhood. I'm going to get right to point.
I was sleeping and woke up for a moment with the feeling someone was watching me. I looked up towards the door entrance of my room and sure as I'm telling you this, the figure of a man with a Derby hat was standing in front of me. I was scared as hell and I pulled the covers over my head for a few moments and looked again and he was gone.
When I got up some time later, I asked my mom if dad came in my room to check on me for any reason and she said no (and dad never wore a Derby). She wondered why I ask the question I'm sure, but I never spoke of it again. The only reason why I write of it now is because I just happen to come across this article. I never given it much thought, but I can tell you they are real. One other point... I have never seen him or her again.
For your interest, it was about 5-6 ft tall, no features other than being human shape and dark with a Derby hat.

We had recently moved to a new house and was having the garden renovated. The front garden was a pile of debris.
I was in the house alone. It was early evening but dark and stood in front of the fire (can't remember why I was stood up). I looked towards the front bay window and did a double take. I could see what I can only describe as a silhouette standing outside the window looking in. I walked towards it and the silhouette turned and 'moved' away to my right, towards the front door. I went to the door, opened it and went outside, there was no one there.
I didn't feel frightened, in fact, I felt the opposite. I have had the feeling of being watched in the past where I’ve seen shadows/movement in my peripheral vision.

Subject: My First Experience with the Shadow People
The first time that I ever encountered a Shadow Person was when I was very young…maybe 5 or 6? I don't remember. Back then, me and my sister shared a room, but she was (and still is) a very deep sleeper, so she didn't see any of this.
When I saw him (them? Do Shadow People have genders?) He was standing in the doorway to our room. He looked a lot like my dad. It wasn't unusual for our dad to do this, seeing as sleep problems run in our family. I have them myself. We had these sippy cups back then, and I would always drink mine too fast, and ask my dad to refill it if he checked on us that night.
When I saw him in the doorway, he was silent. I called out for him a few times, but he didn't say anything. Eventually I just asked if he would refill my sippy cup, and I saw him move forward. Not exactly walk, more like glide, but I didn't question it as a kid. He took the cup from next to my bed, and refilled it, bringing it back. He then walked away, presumably to try and get some sleep.
It was only the next morning that I found out that my dad had been working the nightshift.
I was surprised, to say the least. He had seemed warm and comforting, slightly tired. Just like my dad usually was. It didn't seem to mean any harm. It looked just like a human, but I never could see any defining features, even when it was right next to my bed. Just darkness.

Subject: my story
My name is Dave, I live in Lancaster, Ohio. I am 54yrs now but when I was 11yrs old I had a shadow experience. I say shadow because it was not so much a person but a thing or figure.
I woke up about 10:30 pm and saw a figure not unlike the ghost of Christmas yet to come from Scrooge. It stood there at the foot of my bed and pointed at me. I quickly covered my head! I then slowly looked again, and it was right beside the bed. I lost my breath and covered my head with the covers again. Next thing I knew, I heard my mother coming home from work. Peeked out again and it was gone.
Three days later, I was riding my moped around town and cut down an alley. There it was again and in broad daylight. I opened up the throttle and said, “If you are real, I am going to run you over,” then I ran right through it. I stopped, looked back and it turn around, looked at me and faded away.
It was about a week later and about the same time at night that I saw it again. I asked, “What do you want?” He pointed at me and with a whisper said, “Soon.”
My mother had asked the advice of a preacher and said it was because I had not been baptized that I was vulnerable to sprits. Someone else said it could have been connected to a spirit board that we had because when we would play it and the coffee table would raise about 2-3 inches off the ground. We were told to break it up with a hammer and burn it then take the ashes and bury them in a graveyard.
That was done and I never saw it again. But ever since then, I will dream of the death of relative or someone close, six months before it happens. I can’t see who it is, but I get a sense of familiarity of the person. The only other person in the family that has anything similar was my aunt who would dream of and smell funeral flowers.
I hope my story helps with any research or anyone who might have experience the same type phenomenon.
Dave

I live in independence, MO (Missouri).
Occasionally I will watch a movie downstairs, lights completely OFF. When doing so, my kitchen is upstairs and have odd rails guarding it. When watching, I will sometimes see a base male figure just randomly appear for about 2 to 5 seconds. I would look away and it will vanish. I will get the chills and be convinced to turn on the lights and look around. First encounter I saw it and was like, "What the..?". I didn't think much after 3 more times, but I knew something was off. How did I get rid of it? Either keeping on the kitchen light, (It would only appear in full darkness), or just keeping my cross neckless on during movie time.
Unfortunately, as of recent events, my silver neckless vanished and now I am unable to protect myself that way. Either this shadow thing has had something to do with it or I am very clumsy and lost it.
I have been keeping the lights on and haven't seen it for a long time, but its only soon, that it will come back. This happened weekly, and for it to say ‘bye’ for a near MONTH, means something is happening soon.

When I was in middle school, l during my 5th and 6th grade year, I remember seeing this figure wearing a hood it; it was full black. During the day while playing basketball in the neighborhood, I turn my head around or something. I saw the hooded figure and got scared. I asked my friend if he saw it too, but he did not. I was so confused what just happened.
And during my 6th grade year like during PE, I saw it again. I asked one of my friends if he saw it but…nothing. The figure was looking at me far away and I feel like it happens still without knowing but now that I’m a freshman I feel like I see things still that I shouldn’t want to see.
Many things happened to me in my life that I don’t really want to talk to people like medical doctors or therapists because, at some point, they might think I’m crazy.
If anyone has the same experience or like the same story as me or something please contact me because it will be nice to talk about it.

When I was a child of 10 to 11 years old, my family was gathered for an evening of playing pitch at my grandparents’ house. Being bored of watching and not being asked to play and being an only child and subsequent grandchild at the time, I wandered into the living room that was set apart in the split level home away from the light of the dining room.
My grandparents were adamant about closing the curtains at dusk for privacy. I remember leaning over the back of my grandfather’s chair to pull back the heavy olive-green curtain to peer outside into the darkness. What I witnessed froze me in place unable to move or cry out. Ten or more of these shadow beings were in my grandparents’ front yard and as I swept my eyes from left to right, there were dozens more as I looked down the street. I tried to scream “help me” but the harder I tried to scream; it just would not come out where anyone could hear me. I was petrified in place. About the time I understood my situation, my fear doubled down. Not only could I see them, they now noticed they were seen. They all started moving towards the window. I gathered every ounce of strength I could and let go of the curtain and to push myself out of the chair and turn to run. At first my legs were like lead weights but every step I took they seemed to lighten and my pace quickened until I had returned to the light of the dining room where I remained until leaving. Even out of breath and shaken, no one seemed to notice nor did I try to explain what had just happened. Until now. Not my last nor my first run in but definitely unforgettable.

To start off, I have seen ghost and shadow people ever since I was a child, probably starting at the age of 10 maybe 11 years old.
In my 54 years, I honestly have loads of stories of seeing ghosts and threatening /non-threatening dark figures, but I will give you the story of when my mother passed away in 2021. I’ve been living in this townhouse for the last four years; I have never had an encounter with shadow people in this specific building.
Maybe a month before my mother passed away, I started to see one to two shadow people, they looked like adult figures, just casually walking through the room and then disappearing. This happened a couple nights in a row. Then one night a smaller shadow figure which I hadn’t seen before would be at the end of my bed, it had long skinny arms, but I could not see eyes, very delicate looking.
Started out staring at me at the end of the bed for a couple nights .
On and off for the following week the dark figure would get closer and closer to me, seemingly getting braver by the night, getting closer and closer to me to the point of reaching out to me and when I in return reached out it disappeared.
For some reason, I had a feeling it was my mother, even though she had not passed away, she was a very religious woman. So, one night when it got close to my bed and I told the dark figure, it was OK, you can go. Within the next four days my mother had passed away, November 2021 . As of April 2022, the same frail dark figure has come back. Only been one night, so I guess I have to wait and see.

Hello
I recently came across this website and read through some of the stories posted on here and I would like to add an event to this website. Although I have a lot of experiences dealing with shadow people, I will tell this one specific one.
My family and I moved to South Texas (Corpus Christi) in 2008. The house we moved into was very active with shadow figures, ghostly apparitions and odd sounds. Everyone that came to our house would see doors opening and closing, tall shadow beings standing at the top of the staircase only to disappear shortly after you look in that direction, you'd hear someone or something running up the stairs. Occasionally you would find spirits that would portray themselves as myself. People would talk to this spirit for it to quickly disappear then ask me why I ignored them when I was in my room the entire time they were talking to this look-like spirit.
One particular event occurred around 2011/2012. Around this time, we were helping a friend of ours to house their 3 kids and take care of them before they were going to move somewhere else. The three kids were all under the age of 4. Mason and Josh were twins, and they were 4, Darla was 3 years old.
One night, we all refused to sleep upstairs as the spirit energy was pretty strong and it felt very evil. We were all scared to walk up the stairs, so we all slept downstairs in the living room. The kids took the couches, and I slept on the floor. I woke up, not sure what time but I just felt oddly cold. I heard a faint whisper, and I tried to listen in but couldn't make up any of the words. Next, I heard Mason saying "OK!" and then calling for a cat, and we did not have a cat. His brother woke up to ask him what he was doing to which Mason replied, "I'm getting the cat for him." I was too scared to look, and I eventually fell asleep.
The next morning, I asked Mason who he was talking to last night. He told me, "I was talking to the black man." I told him to explain more, and he goes, "the black man that comes down the stairs every day. He wanted me to get him a cat."
I didn't know how to handle that answer from Mason. Eventually we moved out of that house, but I still see shadow people and I am still to this day trying to figure out what they are.

Subject: My experience of a shadow man
When I was 19 (2010 Northern Ireland), I worked in a local bar on the edge of a village. Weekday nights were very quiet, so they didn't need many people working; one upstairs, one downstairs and a manager. I would order a taxi just before we left the building after assuring my manager, I was ok waiting on the taxi on my own.
I sat on a picnic bench outside waiting. It was probably about 1am. In the corner of my eye, I noticed a tall figure that appeared around the side of the building and was walking along the footpath beside the car park. (More a long stride than a normal walk). I felt really uneasy. I kept facing forward and hoped they would continue walking without seeing me on my own.
They followed the path until the entrance to the car park. It was a tall black solid male figure and it began to walk towards me rather than continue on the path away. I felt like they didn't think I could see them as I was facing forward and they were coming from the side, as it got closer, I felt more and more terror; it felt menacing.
It was getting too close, and I felt like this person was going to try to hurt me so I turned my head to look right at them. To show I was aware and try to take in their features as all I could see was a dark figure, let them know I would run... But as soon as I looked to where it had been - Nothing. Just gone.
It was about 5minutes till my taxi arrived and I sat absolutely terrified the whole time.
