I am a nurse and I work in a nursing home on the rehab unit. My experience with shadow people have been in this facility when one of the patients is going to die. It doesn't have to be on my unit just one of our residents. During report, sometimes I can hardly pay attention as they are running and disappearing in the hallways or into the walls. My co-workers are now aware and scared of my sightings but they know it is time for someone to depart from life.
I once saw one in my house which terrified me. My sons with their friends were going to the other part of the house and I saw the shadow following them. That night one of the boys brother died in an accident on the highway.
There is a room at the facility I'm uneasy about. I choose not to spend too much time in that room when there is a patient in there. I was outside the door of that room and the shadow person rushed passed me scaring me; they never get that close. There are other co-workers who also have seen them. I'm so glad other people see them, I thought I was going crazy.

Subject: Shadow through the door
Hello, I discovered this site recently and I appreciate that someone is collecting all the sighting about this "shadow people."
I always thought that there was something else in the dark rather than the mere absence of light and reading all the stories on this website I am really starting to think I have always been right.
I live in Italy, in rather small modern house, something like 3 Km away from the nearest town.
Around a year ago, me and my mother were watching TV on our couch until she fell asleep around midnight. I moved to my room from which I could see the TV I was watching moments before. I threw myself in the bed and turned on my own TV. When I was falling asleep too and my eyes were closing to rest, I noticed a shadowy figure staring at me from just outside the door. I quickly "woke up" to see who it was and what I saw was something like smoke passing from the left to the right of the door. I clearly recognised a torso, a head and what I suppose, was an arm. The direction that thing went leads only to a small bathroom.
Now, I will clearly tell you that I always felt there was something or someone watching me or studying me in this house and just a moment after that thing disappeared, something like wind moved a jacked hanging from my closet (which is near to the door). I felt petrified all I could do was just stare at the door, hoping it wouldn't come back.
That night, I didn't fall asleep until it was something like 5:15 AM.
During the following day, I was about to go to sleep when I remembered that once my grandma' told that "it is believed that to make evil spirits avoid someplace one must place salt in the corners of the interested area”. Not wasting any time, I found some tiny sacks and I filled them with pure fine salt and from that day I haven't seen anything "shadowy" in the dark of my house's rooms.
Being a religious guy, I never felt like what I saw was an "evil spirit" as my Grandma would say but instead, something that shouldn't be in our dimension; maybe some kind of "lost soul".

Subject: The shadow people when I was a child in Miami
Hello, I just wanted to let you know my experiences with those things. Around five years ago, I would see those things everywhere, just standing and watching me. At first, it was just a quick glance at something shadowy moving amongst the palm trees. Then maybe a year later, those things just would appear out of nowhere and would just stare at me. I would look straight at them and they would be unmoving. Later they started moving around; moving from behind one tree to the other. But then one night I woke up in the middle of the night and looked to my door, and there was one just standing in my doorway, watching me. It was horrifying, but I don't think they would hurt me or anyone else for that matter. They just seem to be observing but after I moved, they stopped appearing. Today, when I found out there are more people who have seen them, I feel more comfortable and I feel that I really did see those things.
I am seeing them again; they still just stand there and observe. I am less scared but I have tried calling out to them when nobody is around, and they just walk away. I hope I can find out what they really are. I don't, at all, believe they are "demons" or "angels", and I most certainly don't believe they are aliens or time travelers.
Thank you for reading this, I am glad I have someone to talk to about this.

Subject: shadow people?
I am not sure if what I experienced would be classified as a shadow person. It only happened to me one time, but the fear has stayed with me ever since. Would love any feedback I can get to try and get a better understanding of what happened to me.
So, I was about 12 years old (I am 31 now) and was spending the night with a friend who lived in Beatty, Oregon, which is in the middle of nowhere and has a population of about 300. She had bunk beds and her sister and herself were sleeping on the bottom bunk and I was sleeping on the top.
I was having a hard time falling asleep because I had a huge crush on her older brother who was out hunting and was going to be home soon, so I was trying to wait up to see him again… lol.
I am unsure of what time it was but I heard the front door open and close so I laid there waiting to hear if he was staying up or not. The bedroom door was closed but I saw the hall light come on and shine under the door. About that time, the bedroom door cracked open and I became a 12-year-old chicken with a crush and closed my eyes to pretend I was sleeping so her brother wouldn’t bother me. The door closed and when I opened my eyes, I saw this black blob next to me. It was just in the shape of a human but had no features that I recall and it appeared that the top bunk was flush with this things waist.
I stared at it for what seemed like forever and the next thing I knew it was floating over me and went into my body. I couldn’t move, breath or even speak. I wanted to yell for my friend but I couldn’t get anything to come out so I began praying in my head and then suddenly it went away. As it released me, I screamed out to my friend by her last name and I woke her. I climbed into the bottom bunk with her and her sister and just told her I had a bad dream.
The next morning when we got up. I saw that her brother never came home. Nobody left the house or came into the house that night. I have always been afraid to talk about it because I am afraid that acknowledging it will cause it to happen again.
As I said before any feedback or similar experiences are more than welcome and greatly appreciated.
Thanks, KC

My name is Jasmine, and I have always been skeptical about the paranormal until a few weeks ago.
I was walking home from my friend's house at about 11 pm, our yards are back to back. We had watched a scary movie, so I was nervous, but that can't explain what I saw.
As I was walking, I saw something move out of the corner of my eye, between the trees. I looked straight at it, and the figure continued to move. It was very dark, and had no features that I could see. It appeared to have the silhouette of a man, but it moved very quickly and smoothly. The movement was unnatural, not human-like. I immediately turned around and sprinted out of the yard, screaming. There was not an evil feel to the presence, but I did not stay to find out any more.

I’ve seen them all my life, I won’t repeat nor retype this, but, I have seen them always...not every day...not even every month. Sometimes months, even years pass then, all of a sudden, I see one but never more than one.
I first learned the term, ‘shadow people’, on the internet when I began college. The more I read, the more my jaw dropped. At the same time, most of the stories were bull. Why? Because of their descriptions. The last time I saw one, I kicked him in the head; my foot went through his head...short yet long story. Anyways, yes, they are real; I would easily bet my soul on it because I’ve always seen them.
But these stories I’ve read are mostly bull.

Subject: Ed startled the dark shadow.
We live in Canfield, Ohio in my deceased ex-husband's house with my son. His dad died here in December of 2012 from cancer.
We have seen orbs and heard things like whistling in parts of house where no one was. Last night, my fiancé got up to use bathroom and on way back to bed, he saw a dark shadow in the middle of the family room. At the same time, he said, the shadow spotted him.
When he first saw the shadow, it was ‘turned away’ from him. Suddenly, it was startled, turned, looked at him and ran away. Ed was also startled. He came into our room and shut the door. Ed said he didn't sense anything evil about him and that he didn't sense he was my ex. He said it was a dark shadow (which we never heard of). The dark shadow's frame was smaller than my ex-husband's.

Subject: Two shadow people
First of all, I just want to say that I'm so glad there is a site like this. Makes me feel not so alone in my experience.
My shadow people appeared to me when I was just 11 or 12. This was back in the 70s. So things like this were never discussed or even known about.
I would see them at night, standing next to my bed. One was tall, the other about 6 inches shorter. They were blacker than black. Picture a pitch dark room; these things were darker! I would be absolutely terrified! I would hide under my covers and pray to God to make them go away.
I would also see them during the day too. They would be standing by a car or a tree. That's when I got even more terrified, because it was daytime. No one else ever seemed to see them. I never told my parents or anybody for fear they would think I was crazy. I didn't want to be sent away. This lasted about a year, on and off. It finally stopped.
I felt that these two entities were pure evil. I think they prey on young people especially because their minds are not so closed as adults.
If you are experiencing these things and feel they are evil like I did, praying to God to make them leave you alone is the only thing that I found works.
Remember you are not alone.

We were somewhere between the ages of 9 years old to 11. It was year 2002-03. Brian, Paco, and I, Dylan. Sugar Land , TX just outside of Southwest Houston.
We all were playing in my front yard when we were about to go inside my house. The setup to the house owned by my grandparents was as soon as you open the door, there is an entrance and then a very tall and large living room. None of the lights were turned on the house because it was around 4- 5 PM and little light shined in. I opened the front door and was about to step into my house when Brian stopped me. He looked terrified and said, "Dude, do you see that?!" I saw nothing. He pointed at the green linen wooden chair that faced the entrance. "There is someone in that chair." At that moment, I saw a very long armed, long legged, long necked, head stretched longer than a normal person, no facial features, head a bit square dark yet transparent stand up like a professional basketball player getting out of a chair that was too small. The chair was a bit circular and his arms covered the whole armrest. Before he stood up, you could see his hands dangling off the armrest.
The very tall, slim, figure turned toward the hallway and the best I can describe, crept down my hallway and disappeared just pass the hallway entrance. I say ‘crept’ because it was as if he didn't want us to see him, but his long arms, fingers, and figure, gave him a visible outline. As if he was trying to be slick. Do not recall if feet were touching ground but he had very long legs. We ran as fast we could to Brian's cul-de-sac before we stopped. Paco did NOT see it and only ran because we ran.
Brian and I described what we both saw and suggested that perhaps, it was the spirit of my mother who had passed away the year before. I assured him that thing was NOT my mother. We walked back to my house, got my next-door neighbor who was in high school to walk in to my house where he assured that there was no one here and we were stupid dumb kids.
I never would have seen it if Brian had not pointed it out and personally, feel once spotted, it tried to sneak away unnoticed but its long attributes gave it away. I do not know what it was but can only tell you what we saw. I have never seen anything like it again.

Hey there
For the past two days, my keys have been missing. I couldn't drive to work today because of it. I'm generally unorganised, but I always know where my keys are.
As I brushed my teeth before bed, I realised I'd left my iPod in the kitchen. I walked down the hallway and suddenly felt very apprehensive like something was there. I turned on all the lights, searched for my iPod, couldn't find it and returned to grooming in the bathroom. I'm not great at looking for things, but I had this really strange daydream that I searched for my iPod and keys to find them suddenly on the kitchen table where I already looked. My daydream showed me freaking out that I was in the wrong dimension and something was playing tricks. I didn't care for that daydream, so I snapped out of it, checked the kitchen again, and sure enough my iPod was there. I felt like something was...odd, so at 11:20pm, I settled into bed. It was raining outside.
I was "Facebook stalking" on my iPad when out of the corner of my eye I saw a black figure walking down the hallway. I assumed it was my grandmother, but when I looked at it, I realised it was completely black, had a male silhouette, 5 foot five (average) slightly stooped and seemed to be running, but, he was gliding. He disappeared around the corner.
It took a while for it to sink in. I wasn't scared or worried...it's just unnatural in our day to day lives so it upset me that I saw something like that when I know I'm a well-adjusted person. I've had other supernatural things happen to me but I've NEVER SEEN anything. I've felt things, even heard things, but this was unreal and I hope it wasn't malevolent...I just wonder if the cheeky bastard knows where my keys are...

Subject: the shadow I see
Hi, my name is Jeannette. I'm 37 years old and live in New York. I've been having this situation with a shadow person (well, I learned the name shadow person by doing research) and I have kept to myself because I don't want people to think I'm crazy or losing it.
The first time I ever saw this shadow person, I was sleeping and I felt cold while I was under my quilt. I remember opening my eyes and saw a tall, slim, black naked man on the side of my bed next to me. I screamed so loud and ran from my bed and into the living room. The shadow man was there and he reached for me. I said, “No!” real loud and that's when I was in the living room. I must've been 20or 21years old by then .
It happened again one year later. I was married and living in the Dominican Republic. That was the night the electricity went off on our block so the air conditioner was not working. I go to sleep again and I feel this cold next to me. I open my eyes thinking the electricity is back and I see the shadow again next to me and trying to reach me. I screamed loud, saying, “No!” and ended up in the bathroom. When my partner woke up, he saw the mirror fall from the drawers and it cracked. I had a real bad bruise in my thigh.
The next morning, the neighbors asked if everything was ok because they heard me scream. Now, I'm divorced and live in New York again and it has happened twice from then till last year it happened again he was the same person tall black slim but muscular and naked this time When I screamed I ended up in the living room took with me the sheets, screaming, “Go away! He's here again!” My boyfriend woke up scareed and nervous and ran after me. He started looking for him because he said he saw him and thought he was real.
I don't know but after that, my relationship has been going downhill as well. I don't know who or what it is. I wonder if my boyfriend wasn't supposed to see the shadow man and know we are now having problems. I really don't know and I don't want to be lied about it. If you really know what is it, help me get rid of this thing that comes once in awhile.
Thank you,
Jeannette

Subject: Shadow person
Hello,
Below is my previous experience to what I believe was a shadow person.
In 2011, sometime near the beginning of fall, I woke up on a Tuesday night to see a black figure in my room. Out of fear, I ran to my parents’ bedroom screaming. I soon dismissed this black figure as a dream and went back to bed. However, it turned out I was wrong, and this black figure that I saw was not a dream because two nights later on Thursday, I woke up to see a black figure once more.
That Thursday night I woke up facing my bedroom wall (opposite side of my alarm clock and of the spot I previously saw the shadow person). After about five minutes of being awake, I decided to turn around so that I could check the time to see whether I would have to get up for school. However, instead of checking the time, I froze I fear to see a black cloaked figure standing in my room staring at a photo I took and framed on the wall of my horse. Within about 5-10 seconds of staring at this black cloaked figure, it turned its head and stared right back at me. Its entire body, including its head was draped in this black cloak, and all I was able to see was its white face with a deep set of black eyes. Needless to say, I ran out of my room like a bat out of hell screaming bloody murder to my parents (that is after I was able to unfreeze from the fear). I have been terrified to sleep by myself since, and my dog will no longer sleep with me in that bedroom.
But my story does not end there. I grew up on an extremely haunted house, and as a child, I have always been able to see ghosts but never have I seen a black cloaked figure. What worries me is that last night, my brother's roommate saw the same thing in their dorm room and woke up my brother in fear to tell him. Also, my brother, within a week or so, has just been able to communicate with his spirit guides, who informed him that my father has a demon who is trying to possess him and that he is in the obsessive stage of possession. In other-words, I fear that this thing could be very dark, and possibly a demon.

It was late, around 12am and on a weekend. I was staying at my brother’s place in Texas City, Texas. I went to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. The lights were on and it was just a normal day. I remember looking up and saw this seven foot shadowy figure walk out of my brother’s bedroom and into the kitchen. When I saw this I just stopped and watched it. The figure didn't do anything but take it's time walking and then stopped in the kitchen. It lasted for about four seconds and I just turned around and went back to the guest room. It freaked me out.
I've seen a lot of stuff and see things out of the corner of my eye, but they have a human shape and features. This thing looked like smoke moving as a human would, but no defined features; only a head, arms, body and legs, but only as a silhouette.
I told my brother and he said others have seen it, but he hasn't. He has moved from that place and he has become a totally different person. He's more outgoing and happy.

This experience happened when I was younger during my pre-teen years. It was kind of short but very interesting and creepy at the same time.
I just awoke in the middle of the night from a dream, not sure if it was a nightmare or not but when I opened my eyes, in front of my closed bedroom door, was a tall and dark figure. It appeared to be floating in the air, right in front of my door. It was just staring at me, watching me stare back at it. It didn't seem threatening. I was very creeped out and surprised to see something like that. After about 10 seconds, it quickly vanished.
It’s body was all black colored, it had a black coat on, black pants, and a black brimmed hat on its head. It’s figure looked male shaped and its weight looked average; average looking appendages for its height, and I couldn't see what its eyes looked like since they didn't glow.
People pull figures, objects, and other things from their dreams, so the weird thing is… I’m pretty sure this figure wasn’t in my dream before I woke up, so I had no idea where it came from or what its intentions were. Another funny thing is that I never saw this figure again, so far. This experience happened while I was sleeping where I lived, which was Queens, New York.

Subject: a shadow person story
Ok, this story happened years ago now but I remember it very vividly. At this time, I lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Las Vegas, NV with my cat. While living in this apartment, my cat would growl into corners and hiss at nothing. A few times all of his hair on his back would stand up while he was growling into what appeared to be an empty corner. This usually always happened when I was alone.
One night in particular the cat woke me up by being mean. That is really the only way to describe what my cat did. The bed was set up diagonal into the corner so that there was a triangular gap at the top of my bed. The cat came through the opening, smacked me on the forehead with both paws and then bit me right on my hairline.
I woke up and went to look around the room to find the cat and throw a pillow at him. There, standing directly across the room in the opposite corner, stood a man. The man was all black but it was a full solid figure. It was like seeing a mannequin that had been painted black with very soft to almost non-existent facial features. There were indents where the eyes belonged but no eyes. The nose was barely there and defined.
He was very nonchalant staring out the window with his arms crossed over his chest. He was leaning against the corner. I would have sworn his back rested against the wall and his left shoulder on the other wall. His right leg was crossed over his left.
He was very tall about 6 ft. 3. He was very strong looking and muscular.
I don’t remember so much being afraid of him, but just being afraid because I woke up to something happening. Looking back, I know with the way he stood, the size he was, and the way he looked out the window, it makes me think that he was there as a body guard on lookout.
I quickly closed my eyes. I looked back a couple of times but he remained there. I don’t remember him even looking my way. I then closed my eyes and made myself go back to sleep.

Before I start, I would just like to say this is one hundred percent true.
My bedroom is downstairs; my window is to the left of my bed. I awoke from a very vivid dream not long ago but the strangest thing is, that for some reason the second I woke up, I threw open my curtains instinctively, as if there wasn't a reason for me to be doing it… like it was a routine. That is when I saw the shadow directly in front of me. My reaction was also strange, as I did not feel threatened by its presence. It was wide from shoulder to shoulder and around 7ft tall. A few seconds after staring at this thing, it just vanished into nothing.
As soon as it had gone I did not feel threatened or even amazed at what I had just seen, I just instinctively closed the curtains and immediately fell asleep. When thinking about what I had witnessed that night it does not scare me. Is this thing a good entity, looking out for me? Please get in touch.

Ok, my first encounter with my "shadow man" was when I was 15 which was a year ago.
My closet door is broken and never shuts; every now and then I can see a dark figure that is seemingly male standing there, darker than its surroundings. He doesn't give off any bad feelings but at the same time, he makes me extremely uncomfortable. After he appeared the first time, he slowly appeared closer and closer to my bed. Finally, he was just towering over me night after night.
Sadly, my night watchman has gone and I have moved. I kind of miss his somewhat protective shadow. Thank you for your time.

When I was pretty young, I shared a room with my twin sister. We would sometimes sleep in each other’s loft beds for fun. I remember one night when we were sitting talking in her bed (it was right in front of the door) and we noticed this very tall, dark figure with, what seemed like, spiky hair. This thing was completely black and kept popping its head in and out of the door. At first we thought it was our older brother, but then we came to realize he couldn’t be as tall as the door, he was only a few years older than us. It disappeared after a few times popping its head in and out of the doorway and that was it.
Another time (I was still young) it was very early in the morning, maybe 5 or 6; just starting to get light out. My sister was asleep and I noticed this pitch-black figure walk into the room. It looked like it was wearing a trench coat and a hat. It slowly started to walk towards me and stand in the middle of the room between mine and my sisters bed and it started to dance. I threw my covers over my head in fear and made a little tunnel through the sheets to see if it had gone but it sat beside my bed. It seemed as though I was under the sheets forever until I got the courage to whip them off. When I did, it was gone and that was the last time I ever saw a shadow person.
My sister had another experience. She told me about seeing a man that decided to lie beside her in bed. He had a dog and they were both completely black. I’m not sure if this was 100% real when she told me because so far I haven’t heard any stories about animal shadow figures showing up.

Hello, my name is Joe. When I was young, around the age of 3, I began waking up in the middle of the night. I thought it was a dream but it felt like I would just wake up and get out of my bed. It was dark; around 3 in the morning. I would walk to the doorway when a dark shadow would run down the living room stairs and come towards me. I would turn around and get back into my bed. I kept having this reoccurring dream over and over again for a few months. I dreaded going to bed.
I told my grandfather but he said it was probably him hugging and kissing me when I was asleep.
I had this "dream" or maybe I was “actually” waking up in the middle of the night and was fully awake as it felt to me and I didn't feel like I was in a dream at all! I kept having this shadow figure chase me into bed every night until I didn't get back in bed in time and I never had this dream again.
I started seeing my father at that age and was saw horror movies when I visited him on the weekends like “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Pet Cemetery”. This is when these dreams started.
In the house I was living at the time was built about 200 years ago. There had also been a murder in the house; a stabbing upstairs. A man murdered a girl, years before my grandparents bought the house. The dark entity would run down stair after me. I honestly believe its a demon or a dark tortured soul that attached itself to my soul and has been part of me and my vessel like a living parasite. It attacked when I was young and vulnerable and my father was exposing me to disturbing material that allowed me to be a host for a dark entity to possess. I believe 100% these shadow people are real and I feel like its still a part of me like my dark half that is always trying to make me meet my demise and fall short in life and its a continuous spiritual battle that I fight in day after day!

Hello, I was watching TV at 1:50 AM. All lights were off except the bathroom light. I saw a black shadow man figure from the corner of my eye but when I looked, it disappeared.
I began to watch TV again and as commercial was on, the television made a static sound and then the screen jumped into the next commercial like it skipped. I saw a shadow on the bottom right of my screen from chest-up of shadow walking towards the TV; like it somehow got inside of it. It lasted only a second.
I'm stunned confused. Is it a ghost or something else? Going to bless my home. Also my younger child will not go into another room without me; he keeps saying there is a monster. I believe something is in my home is seeking help.

Subject: my story
When I was about 14, I was leaving my aunt’s house in Charleston, MA. This was about 1982. It was mid-fall, sometime in November or maybe early December. As I stepped off the stoop of the brownstone in the late afternoon, I saw an entity on my left, crouching. I watched it move in a standing yet floaty, glistening, kind of way like an oil slick. It had a humanoid figure but no discernable features but a round head and limbs like arms and legs. It was like looking into space with no stars. It hovered in front of me, watching I think but did not attack. My voice was paralyzed as I stared into its void of a face. I always attributed this voice paralysis to fear but upon learning others have also had a paralysis of speech, I now believe the sound was deliberately closed off due to the entity. I turned and ran, looked back and it was gone.
I have so many questions about that day. Was it lying in wait for me or just came across my presence? Did others that day see it too from anywhere? Why are the accounts involved with many young pre-teens? I do have some theories. Is it possible this is an inter-dimensional being trying to connect with pubescent humans? Why? Is there some kind of doorway or portal opening in certain locations? Is there a relationship with their slipping into our world and the time travel debacle which allegedly happened on Montauk Point about that time. Are they seeking out certain individuals, if so why? These things are real.

I have always been afraid of the dark, particularly of monsters. Now as a very small child, around four or five, I had an extremely vivid dream of me running through my house away from a wall of shadow with a figure in it. Now when I closed my eyes, it couldn't harm me, but in my dream, it chewed up my mom’s legs before she closed her eyes. Before that dream, I had not been exposed to horror movies or even many thrillers, so I have no idea where the image came from. This dream has continued throughout my life, since then, with walls of darkness that hold figures in them. This is where I believe the clearer image of what I see stems from, however, I have seen it when conscious as well.
When I was in daycare, I had to change in the basement of my daycare lady's home alone everyday so that I could go swimming. When I changed, I would see black figures running around out of the corners of my eyes and very rarely when I directly looked at something. Also, I would be quite scared of very specific areas of darkness; like when I visited my grandmother's, I could not look down her unpaved driveway. Everywhere else would be fine, except for that one area.
Now, as an adult, I do not see them, but when I look out at the trees at night, I can see, in great detail in my mind, a black shadowy figure melting into the dark. They have huge inhuman eyes that are so black they reach beyond black, and with long stick-like arms with spindly fingers and a quadrupedal skeletal human-like form. It is like when you close your eyes and picture in your head a very detailed image of an apple; however, my eyes are open since it is dark. Now, I know nothing is going to hurt me but that's not what I'm afraid of. The staring is what I'm afraid of. The things I see are so unnatural that it paralyzes me with fear.
I discussed this with a family friend that works with trouble children and she told me to describe it as she drew it. Before I finished my description, she had drawn it exactly and proceeded to tell me that a couple of her students had the same description and fear.

Subject: My story
I am an 18-year-old boy from Arkansas. I consider myself to be among the most skeptical in terms of the paranormal. I have seen shadow people 3 times. This is my account of the first time.
It's probably 8:45pm during the summer. I'm lying on my bed with my girlfriend. A lamp is on and it lights up the room but is a bit dim. She fell asleep and I began to reposition myself to get more comfy when around the corner of the wall at the foot of my bed, a black silhouette of a man pops out and looks at me. It was featureless with no nose, eyes, ears, or hair. I only saw the upper half of the body and an arm for a split second before it vanished back around the corner. It had fingers. It was almost transparent but black at the same time. The sighting was very brief.
I'm often reluctant to speak of the sighting because I partially don't want to accept it and no one would believe me.

I suddenly woke up in bed (or was still asleep) and I looked around my room. Everything from my TV to my books was in the same place as I had seen them before I went to sleep. I glanced over to the foot of my bed and I saw a tall, black figure - which looked like a man - standing perfectly still. He was wearing a hat and suit jacket that were brighter than his face but were still dark and hazy. I sat up a bit and watched as he turned his head left, right and then turned towards me. It turned his head back to the left and pointed at me without looking.
I watched for a few more seconds before lying back down. As it was really dark, I thought that if I was awake, it is my eyes and the multiple objects in my room playing tricks on me. However, I am not too sure how many minutes past but I awoke again. I turned to my left and saw towering over me, a huge, wispy black figure. It seems that he appeared immensely quickly.
He reached over and started to strangle me. I couldn't see any fingers, just what looked like black paint strokes' wrapped around my neck. I lay there, unable to move and trying to shout out for help. The fear was unreal. Then, he leaned over and bit my neck. I could feel the pain of needles being scratched against my neck and a horrific burning sensation. He then let go, moved to the end of my bed and grabbed my left leg. I could feel his hand around my ankle and watched as he tried to drag me towards my bedroom door, which was silhouetted in bright red.
I was screaming out loud but felt as if I was being shaken violently or being subjected to enormous pressure all over my body, which restricted my ability to speak. I sank further into my bed with enormous weight, rendering him unable to pull me off. Then all of a sudden, he left. And I woke up stewing in fear and sweating.
Although previously I have shared the same feeling of fear, pressure and the awareness of being watched, I have never actually had an image of a figure appear and 'attack' me in such a way.

Subject: How to eliminate shadow people for good
Ok, I was able to rid myself of these annoying little energy suckers pretty easily and energy is what their after. It is pretty simple. If you live with fear-based emotions, you put off the energy they like.
Well, one day I learned about the real power of love and gratitude, and next time I see a shadow person, I won't be the one that's afraid. Here is what I did: when I finally caught a shadow person straight in front of me, I quickly imagined a very bright and powerful golden beam of light coming from my third eye, or forehead, right into the shadow person. In that beam of light, I put all the love I could possibly feel. I know it’s tricky because you're afraid but if I can do it, so can you. I was kinda hoping the shadow being would come back so I could shoot it again but I haven’t seen any since then; it’s been years. So, I really hope this helps. Learn about love and gratitude.

Subject: My Encounter
When I was young, four or five, if I remember correctly, I saw a shadow person in the room that my older sister and I shared. I woke up during the night and looked over at my sister’s bed. My bed was at the foot of hers and the two formed an L. I saw a man hunched over my sleeping sister. Being so young it’s difficult to remember the details of what he looked like, however, I remember him being all dark. Unlike the shadow figures I saw following this night, this being my first encounter, he had a face. He turned his head and looked at me, he gave me a bone chilling smile and turned back to my sister.
I hid under the covers in fear, a few minutes later I peeked out and he was still there. Eventually, I fell back asleep so I don’t know how or when he left. I believe this to be a shadow person, but I don’t know much about them.
After this “encounter,” I would see non-humanoid shadows moving towards me in the dark. I’m 16 now and still sleep with some form of light. These beings have haunted me ever since this night, never failing to bring dread with them and leave it behind when they go. As I’ve grown older, I see them less and less, or perhaps I don’t notice their presence anymore. Either way, I would like to know what they are and why I see them so often.

Subject: My experience
When I was younger, I used to see shadow people all the time. I grew up in a house on ten acres of property that my great-grandfather bought. He was a builder so he built onto the doublewide trailer he bought. He built a downstairs area, and a staircase that led up to the laundry room. I used to play on the staircase with matchbox cars and action figures; you know normal kid stuff. Well one day I looked up and I saw a shadow in the figure of a man walking past the door at the end of the hallway. Since that day, I saw it every day when I played there. It was like a silhouette; a complete shadow with no eyes whatsoever, and it was always walking.
Now I have to pause here to say, my great grandfather had a powerful presence about him. When he walked in the room, you knew he was there. This man was very close to my heart and he got sick when I was eight years old. He had cancer and was getting sicker and sicker. A few days before his death, I came out of my bedroom and froze; for the first time I saw the shadow somewhere else, it was standing in front of his door. The shadow vanished all of a sudden and I just went about my day.
A year passed and I didn't see the shadow again, my great grandfather was dead and buried but my grandmother moved into the house with me to take care of me. I was coming up the steps same as always and there at the end of the hallway was the shadow. Only this time its eyes were there. They were hollow, like holes in the shadow; I could see the wall through his eyes. He rushed at me and I screamed but when he reached me, he disappeared.
Since that day I have seen shadows in a lot of different places, and sometimes I still get woke up in the middle of the night with nightmares. I have found that drawing a banishing pentagram, and invoking the name of Christ three times, and then burning seven lavender candles, helps get rid of the shadows temporarily.

Subject: My Shadow Man
I grew up in an old farmhouse that was built on old Indian burial ground. Strange things happened often. Cupboard doors open in the mornings, shattered mirrors throughout the house, piano playing by itself, pictures flying off walls and breaking. I don't remember how old I was when I first saw him but I believe somewhere around 5 years of age.
I was playing alone in my room and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a man. He had on a hat and trench coat and tall boots. He was around 7 feet tall; he took up the whole door opening. He was all shadow. No facial features, just...shadow. He just stood there watching me. I was afraid so I ran to my bed and hid under the blankets. After what seemed like a long time, I peeked out. He was gone. Being used to strange happenings, I didn't get too upset. However, that was the first time I'd seen a being. It has happened many times over the years: once in the barn while feeding the pigs, once in the woods while playing by the creek, once in the hallway, once outside by my car in the dark.
Now, his favorite place to show up is in my kitchen doorway, just watching. I've come to see him as a guardian. He never causes trouble. He has even appeared to me in moments of despair and I can hear him say, “I'm here. It's going to be alright,” then he'll tip his hat and fade away.
One night when I was going to kill myself over a horrible marriage and deep depression, I was driving my car planning to run into a tree. He appeared in the seat next to me and his presence was so comforting to me that I pulled over and cried for a long time. He has never done anything to hurt or scare me. He is a comfort to me.

Hi, my name is Karl.
As a child, I was frequently visited by a shadow man. He would sit on me and try to choke and strangle me. He had no obvious features and seemed to be made of black smoke. He was thin in appearance and walked above ground.
For many nights, I awoke whilst being attacked by this shadow man. He would sit on top of me and choke me. I saw him after struggling to turn over onto my back as I was face down asleep when he attacked. I finally managed it, but he was holding my arms and was very strong. Surprised that I was fighting back, the shadow man fled.
He was not human but was of human form made of shadowy smoke that stuck together (unlike smoke that disperses). I often screamed until he’d stop and then I’d run as fast as possible to my mum and dad’s room and stay in their bed, terrified to return.
One night, l saw his foot leaving the room through an open door. He was blacker than black and really fast as though he was fleeing.
I am a twin and at this time, I was five. My twin is my sister, Louise and she never saw or heard him. In fact, she always was sleeping when I screamed for help, even though we shared the same room in a two up, two down, terraced house and this continued until my mother had the house exorcised by a local priest.
After that, he stopped attacking me but when I was 10, he came back. I was walking upstairs to go to the bathroom and all of a sudden, the all too familiar, feeling so strong of fear and horror, came over me and he telepathically spoke to me in a mocking tone. My eyes were screwed tight with terror as I never wanted to see him again. I was aware that I was older and stronger now and loudly commanded that he leave me alone for I would kill him. My faith was strong as I was a devout Roman Catholic and I felt strength. I opened my eyes and no one was there.

Subject: It was surprised I could see it
Hi there,
I'm in the northeast of the UK and on Friday, 5th Dec 2014, I saw one for the first time.
I was sitting in living room, about eight feet away from the kitchen door. I saw it out of the corner of my eye, but turned to see it just on the inside of the internal kitchen door. It turned to look at me and seemed shocked I could see it. We held each other’s gaze for about 10-15 seconds, no more than 20 seconds. Then it just vanished.
It was about 4 feet high and quite slim. It had a thin neck, but everything else seemed proportionate. Instinct tells me that it felt “caught out”. It was if it was looking for a reaction from me. It was dark grey in colour. Initially, I was surprised, but held my direct gaze at it, waiting to see what it do. However, it just vanished.

So, I've been dealing with this for almost 7 years now.
It started when I saw a woman figure on my couch when I was the only one home. A few months after that I woke up with a very bad feeling that I wasn't alone. Exactly 7 days later, I woke up with claw marks on my back. This was six almost 7 years ago. I've always felt that I've never been alone even when I was and not in a pleasant way.
A few months ago, my girlfriend and I were in her mom's basement which is currently our bedroom and I had a sudden feeling of fear and panic and felt hands on each of my shoulders, pushing me hard into my bed. I was screaming. It was horrible.
It's December 7th at 8:52pm and that feeling is very intense again. In the corner, I'm seeing that same shadowy figure and I'm trying to ignore it except now, I hear whispering but I can't understand it. I get a feeling it is nothing pleasant. It is walking back and forth from one corner to another.

It all started 5 years ago when my ex-girlfriend and I had some interactions with paranormal incidents. After seeing and hearing enough to believe in spirits, we had many questions so my friends and I had a bright idea to make our own Ouija board. Everything spiraled out of control from there on out.
About two nights after I went home, it felt different there; just wasn't something right about anything. Life was a little darker, the sun wasn't as bright, the hope in my mind and eyes dwindled. I felt all of this but I never saw it; it was almost like someone was with me, riding on my back, pulsing negativity into me.
After my friend, Jared, dropped me off at my residence, I said goodbye and walked up to the house. I unlocked the door to darkness, even after turning the light on, nothing had changed. The inside of the home felt dark, hopeless and completely depressing, like I was being awaited to come home to death and despair. I never felt the emotions I now felt. I tried to ignore the feelings and atmosphere of the home.
I went upstairs to my room twice before returning downstairs. One last time, as I went to go back upstairs, I saw a figure who was tall and skinny and completely black; darker than darkness itself. It was standing in the entryway of my home. I immediately ran up my stairs and to my room. While I barricaded my door, I heard someone run up my stairs. Trouble is, no one was home and our stairs were too quiet to hear footsteps so I was extremely terrified. I could feel this entity getting closer and standing outside my door while all of this was happening. I called a friend to come get me. Luckily, my friend showed up as things couldn't get worse. Everything stopped as soon as I heard the doorbell. It felt like it had fled. I didn't return to my home for almost a year but this thing didn't leave me for almost 3 years: watching me sleep and stalking me, pushing me to do things I never wanted to do.
It was only after spiritual cleansing and seeking help from everyone I felt better and was able to sleep.

So I was about 6-7 years old. I lived in a huge old house built in 1907 and located in Vancouver, Washington.
It was probably 1997-98 when this happened but I would see many things I can't explain in that house as a child. The scariest, most memorable, was a night I was trying to go to bed and I always felt like someone was watching me. All of a sudden, I felt “it” so strongly. I looked around my room to see a very tall, darkest of dark, man standing in my closet about 5 feet from me. I stared for a few minutes and he just stared back. I was too terrified to run or yell so I just hid under my blanket until I fell asleep.
I will never forget that because it was so scary and I can't get over how dark it was, standing in my dark closet but looking like the darkest thing I've ever seen to this day. It just stood there staring at me but made me feel so uncomfortable.
I never thought about it until I was older and didn't live there anymore and feel the same way but growing up there I always always felt like someone was watching me. I never felt alone and would always act like I was in front of people constantly. I thought that's how everyone felt at the time, never noticing I only felt that way at home. I hope I never see one again!

Hello my name is Jacob.
I've always been able to see things ever since I was a child; nice, peaceful vibes from them when I was little. The years passed then I started seeing shadow beings; some human looking ones and some cloudy ones. I was on heavy use of meth, so I wrote it off as me just hallucinating.
Sadly, that wasn't the case. Some nights I’d wake up to my cats just staring at the door so this wasn't written off as hallucinations anymore because I wasn't the only one seeing them now. These...they were evil...bad spirits. They’d followed me to stores when I’d go at night on foot. One ran towards me onetime, scared the bejesus outta me!
In conclusion, I got off drugs but still see shadows lurking but not scaring me now though but I’ll never forget the fear.

Subject: Darting shadow figure
This will be short. I am a 24-year-old man from Iowa.
Recently (past half year), I have been seeing a dark figure out of the corner of my eye. When I turn to look, it is gone.
At first, I brushed it off as having to do with a lack of sleep, as I work third shift. Only last week, when talking to a co-worker, I saw one and she asked what was wrong. I just shrugged and said, “I thought I saw something.” She asked if it was ‘like a shadow’ and I uneasily said, yes, not knowing how she would have any idea. She then proceeded to tell me that she has been followed by "shadow people" her whole life (she is 52).
I had to do some research and found this site. Have been reading all sorts of stories and it makes me feel uneasy. I hoped there would be benevolent stories like mine but the ones I’ve read, where they precede disaster or tragedy, scare me.
