When I was young about 10 years old, I remember something a 10yr. old would never forget.

One night, when I was sleeping in my room, I woke up for no reason and looked around the room still sitting on my bed. (At the time I had no curtains on my windows.) When I looked out the window, I saw a black shadow staring at me. To describe it: it had no face, it was just plain black.

I was so scared that I couldn't move. I was too scared to turn the lights on so I hid under my blankets. I was puzzled also because, who would be staring at me from the 2nd floor window?

The next day, I told my mother about this. I think she believed me. We put a blanket over the window so it wouldn't bother me no more. After that, it didn't bother me.

But that very next night, my mom told me it, a black shadow, came to her sliding door window. It was just staring at her so she got up and turn the lights on but it was no longer there. She shut the curtains and left it at that.

So every night she reminded me to shut all the curtains in the house.

A few years later, my little brother had the same experience. He woke up crying and he was too scared to sleep alone for a long time. My brother was only 8 years old at the time.

I don't know why this thing bothered us but I can only give you people advice. Close your curtains at night so nothing will look at you.

Hi

I, too, have seen one of the shadow people and would like to add my story to your collection. My experience wasn't quite as close-up as some of the others I've read, but similar all the same.

One night, (this was in early 2000), my husband and I were driving home from the grocery store. It was dark out already and raining. Our apartment is maybe 5 to 10 minutes from the store we go to. We certainly weren't in a spooky mind set--we just wanted to get dinner started. As we began to drive across the overpass to a freeway, I saw a human-like figure walk to the middle of the road and look directly at our car. The bizarre part of it was that this figure had an amber eyeshine, but even as our headlights began to graze the rest of its body, no other features became visible. It was as if the light had hit a shadow that would not fade.

As we approached the figure, it leaped into the air and seemingly rolled into a ball into the guard rail on the left of the road. Then, we could see only darkness. I looked at my husband and said, "What the !@#$% was that!" He had seen it too and could not explain it and was even more suprised that he had not been hallucinating.

I have never heard of anyone else seeing these figures until I saw your website. Knowing that others out there have seen these shadow people both comforts me and creeps me out.

I do not have any--and I mean any--clue what it was that we both saw, but it must have been something. Maybe a yeti or a demon or maybe it was some tripped out human--who knows? I believe what I saw and not what I think it was--the experience speaks for itself.

I guess the real question is: are these beings something new to the earth or something old? And are they beginning to appear more and more for a reason?

Maybe we'll find out in our lifetimes, and maybe it will be a short lived phenomenon, but I think all those who have seen it know that it was not a play on the imagination, but something we can't help but believe.

hi.

Before i get started i just wanna go ahead and tell you that you have full permission to use this story on your site...and great site by the way.

Well...my story goes as is..when i was i guess maybe ten years old and my mother and father were divorced a few years earlier and moved their seperate ways and all, but i used to divide my time between them.

My father moved into an older house in a suburb of montgomery ala. and i was staying with him on my weekend as i was supposed to. i was going to bed in the spare room that night and got a lil restless. my bed was in the centre of the room and there was a recliner chair off to the side of it..and i opened my eyes and there seemed to be someone standing in front of the chair. Of course being ten, it scared the wits outta me, and i closed my eyes and waited for the worst. i got brave enough to open my eyes again and it was still there..but the catch was it started to move towards me and i flew outta bed and down the hall to my fathers room without haste. After a thorough check of the room, nothing was found, and i never saw it again in that house other than weird sounds and an occasional corner of the eye sighting.

my other encounter occurred a few years later while living with my mother in another town outside of montgomery ala. and again it was an older house. I was seventeen at the time and a lil more brave than ten but in the back of the house there were no doors and all the windows were securely locked and checked personally but I have had more than one glimpse of shadow people in this house. like the most memorable was when I was trying to sleep late one night and opening my eyes I noticed there seemed what looked like a person on my ceiling. and I was like whaaa? and after noticing it, it seemed to scurry away and hide in the darkness. but what was weird about the whole thing was that i very rarely if ever saw them in the front of the house or in my mothers room. Just the two back rooms and the short hallway. and my poor cat was scared most of the time. He liked being outside more than in...even on rainy nights and cold days..well that's my story so hope you like them..

On a spur of a moment I decided to look up any other occurrences similar to mine regarding shadow creatures. just mailed this out to another site regarding the same topic. Well. the internet is the best venue to tell this story as any...

The first encounter happened when I was a kid maybe 12 or 14. I slept on the lower bunk of a bunk bed and I was wide awake and could not sleep. The only light was a nightlight out in the hallway outside the bedroom. Suddenly, a dark blob of something that appeared to be a shadow with a head and two arms leaped out from the side of the bed, grabbed my throat and started choking me. I panicked and could not comprehend what was going on. I then bit the thing (I don't remember what it felt like in my mouth)... it let go and I jumped out of bed.and just stared at the bed for a good minute, sweating like crazy. Nothing was there. I was pretty sure I was wide awake. I went and washed my face. thought I had a weird delusion or something & jumped back in bed and hid under the covers.

Second encounter occurred later in college. I was subletting a house over the summer during summer session. One of my buddies came to visit over the weekend. He stayed in a separate bedroom in an adjoining hallway next to my room. His room had a whole bunch of moving boxes scattered about. One box near the door had a fire alarm sitting on it. As he was trying to sleep.. a huge tiger-like shadow thing prowled into the room via the open doorway. My friend was s**t scared. The shadow thing bumped into the box with the fire alarm on it, and knocked it off the box. The fire alarm went off, waking me and my other roommate. The shadow thing leaped out of the room. We ended up shutting the alarm off, and my buddy told us the story... and he was terrified and refused to sleep in that room again.

There is definitely something out there... but fortunately I haven't had any other encounters in the last 7 years

One night I awoke paralyzed. I looked towards the window, my eyes being the only things that could move. Sitting on the window was a dark shape of a man who was watching me. Inside my head I could hear a faint voice saying "come with me." I could slowly feel myself dying or what I thought was the experience of dying. My breathing stopped, and I could feel my heart beat slower and slower. I was terrified and with every ounce of energy I forced my body to sit up. The moment I sat up in bed the apparition disappeared. I was completely drained physically. I noticed that the time on the clock was 3:15am. This occurred a couple more nights during that month. The last time, I almost gave into the urge to follow him. The death sensation was scary at first, but it was exciting at the same time. Kind of like the first hill on a roller coaster. It has been a couple years since this first meeting, and I have been moving from place to place hoping to avoid contact with this being. It always seems to find me within a few months, no matter where I go. Sometimes I want to be left alone, but this being and the other things that haunt me are always around. They don't understand how tired I can get at times.

I'm 19 and live in NJ, and up until now, I never really had an answer for what I have seen. I am, of course, referring to shadow people. I have seen these things on a regular basis and it creeps the hell outta me every time because it always seems to happen when I'm alone or when I'm off guard.

My most recent event was when I had come home after a night hanging at my brother's house. I believe the time was about 12 midnight or just a couple minutes after. I came in the back door which is attached to the kitchen. I set my keys down and turned to go the fridge when I spotted someone, plain as day, standing in the living room across me; I'd say about 10 feet away. Not too much features I could make out but I didn't recognize this person and I knew it wasn't my parents. So I took a double take and when I refocused, it was gone. Now I'm kinda shaky and freaked so I head to the fridge, grab the iced tea in the back and start to stand back up. As I shift my weight back onto my heels, I lean back to see that same figure standing right beside me, right behind the door. I got so scared that I yelled out and almost jumped into the fridge.

The thing is that I see these things all the time. I see them all around in my house, in mirrors and even in my windows as others have and I cant take it anymore. My parents, I have a feeling, don't believe me but they're not the ones being stared at by someone with no face.

I seriously am scared of these things because I don't know what they want. I'd rather not know but I wish they'd go away.

It was 1977, I think. My dad had just remarried and now I suddenly had a big brother and a little sister. We moved into their house. It was a rough beginning for me. I made up a lot of stuff to cause trouble in the house. So I wasn't taken seriously very often.

One night my cousins were staying the night with my little sister and myself. Brian, my male cousin, and I were sleeping in one room and the girls stayed in the other.

It was late one night and we decided to go get a snack. A sunken living room separated us from the kitchen. We walked across the living room toward the kitchen and stopped in fear as we noticed that there was a dark shape standing in the entrance to the kitchen. It appeared to be hooded or else it had a pointed head. There were two red dots where the eyes should have been. We didn't turn on the light in the living room so we were in total darkness.

The Shadow Person appeared to be even darker than the shadow. Terrified, we ran back down to the bedrooms and into my sister's room. She and my cousin were still awake also. We asked if they wanted to see something really scary. They gave mixed answers but were still willing to come see what we were talking about. We went back into the living room and, sure enough, the dark shape was still there waiting for us. My sister began to cry and my little cousin just held her hand to her mouth. It was obvious that they both saw the shadow person but were too frightened to talk. We took off running back down to the bedrooms crying and screaming. My parents woke up and asked what was going on. My sister and little cousin wouldn't talk about it, but I told them that there was something standing in the kitchen.

My dad went to check for signs of someone breaking in, but all the doors were still locked (front door had a locked bolt as did the back sliding door). The only other door was from the kitchen into the garage and there was no sign that someone had opened the garage door. All the windows were closed and locked as well.

My parents said that they didn't believe that we had seen a ghost, but we moved from that house shortly after this incident. To this day, when I ask my sister if she remembers seeing the "man with the red eyes" she puts her hand up and walks away. "I don't want to talk about it." she says.

To Whom It May Concern:

I rarely am one to make a big deal of things let alone tell anyone weird unbelievable stuff, but these are some experiences that I recently had in a house we lived in for a little under a year.

We moved into this house in October of 2001. The first two or three months all was fine. Then on or around the first of the year (2002) my 4 year old (then 3) would wake up in the middle of the night absolutely terrified saying the was a "monster" in her room. Now of course I brushed this off as childhood nightmare but then in late February I started waking up in the middle of the night with a feeling of some one staring at me (Note my daughter stopped getting up). Upon looking in the general vicinity of where this feeling was coming from I would briefly see a shadowy black and gray apparition that would be gone as soon as my eyes focused. This would give me the chills then I would go to sleep. This occurred 2-3 times a week for months. The same nightly scenario, I'd wake up focus and gone, or I'd wake up see "it" and turn the TV and "it" was gone. Only once did my Fiancé actually see the apparition too, I think it was in June. She woke me up in the middle of the night and said she saw a faceless child standing next to her about three feet from her side of the bed. As soon as she looked at the face, it was gone. I then got up telling her it must have been my daughter. I went into her room and she is fast asleep. Other than this she never saw anything again.

The most frightful experience with "it" was in late August when I woke out of a dead sleep again and did the routine, except this time "it" didn't disappear. It stayed floating in the corner of the room. It was a swirling black cloud with some gray in it. Probably 4-5 feet long and 1½-2 feet wide. I will honestly say I have not felt that kind of fear ever in my life. It felt like there was pure evil in the room. I couldn't move but I was able to nudge my Fiancé and say, "Look there it is, that thing I keep seeing!" With that she rolled over and only after she turned over did it disappear. We moved out in Late September and I have not been woken up since.

I did ask a few people of the history of this house but to no one's recollection did anyone ever meet their fate on that ground. Like I said, normally, I wouldn't take the time to write this however I feel as though I needed to get it off my chest.

(P.S. - The corner this always appeared in was a corner where I had a crucifix hanging on the wall. We left that behind as well to ensure we wouldn't be followed).

Hello!

This is one of many stories that I could share, but it was the one that also affected others in the room.
Here goes....

One night about a year ago I was sleeping and woke up. If anything is going to happen it usually does about 3am, I've noticed that. Anyway, I was half asleep with my head on the pillow, but saw two "beings" very dark. They were in the doorway with the faint hall light on behind them. One was upright, one was on all fours. They looked real evil, and things didn't feel right at all.

My husband was sleeping next to me, and our dog was next to our bed. They both were very restless, snorting and tossing and turning. I started to pray. It took a while, but eventually I could tell that the beings were leaving. As soon as they were gone my husband AND the dog started to sleep peacefully.

Weird, huh?

Hi,

My name is Gabriela and I live in Munich, Germany. Since I moved to a small village I've experience this phenomenon. I just found out about it (what it is called) or that it even has a name and it is common only recently! I used to think I was crazy, as some days I just couldn't sleep. Like if something was "bugging" me. Like an annoying mosquito, but different. I will feel a cold wind, (my windows are closed) it's very cold at night here. And also feel some kind of pressure or "paralyzed" sensation. I will just shake and wake up. And I will see directly across the room. That figure. It did sometimes stink, sometimes not.

There might be months even seven or eight in which nothing happens. And then it comes back again. Doesn't seem to follow a pattern. Can happen during the day even! That is more rare. I also feel or "hear" like whispers in my ear. I just would like to get rid of it! Call it superstition, but once I made a spell (from one of those magick sites) to get rid of it, and left it at the entrance of my bedroom. Well the "thing" left. Maybe it was just my subconscious. But I just recently found out that MANY people have experienced this!!! I thought it was only me. It was an accident that I was looking at a news article, talking about aliens cover-ups and stuff, and I ended in this guy, "Art Bell" web site and he had those!!!!! I was shocked! I thought there was something wrong with me, as I can feel their presence or its presence, and the feeling of "being," observed. And then months can go by. And nothing, everything "ok"!!!

If you know of anyone that has gotten rid of them (permanently) please tell me how! Thanks!

If you want ghost stories contact me- I have tons of them.

Shadowpeople talk and are exclusively male and are cowards too. I have seen them off and on for the past 20 yrs.

The most recent event: I awoke and saw them crawling on the ceiling over my bed- when I awoke- they saw me and SLOWLY crawled back and then down the wall and into the floor- disappearing completely. They were kinda upset that I caught them sneaking up on me.

Later that night, my comforter was thrown off me and landed on the floor. I went back to sleep and was awakened by someone grabbing my left bicep (hard). When I awoke, the comforter was folded in fourths on top of me barely covering my thighs. I un-did that and went back to sleep. I awoke early that morn to go to work- the cat was sitting in front of the hot air vent in the dining room- I went to pet her before I went into the kitchen, her fur was HOT _ like she was sleeping in front of the hot air return- but the air coming out was FREEZING cold! she was hot and the air surrounding her was FREEZING!

About 5 years ago, I was in that half sleep and the shadowpeople were around my bed and they spoke something like "Yes we are!" or "We are here!" There were 3 and each said one word in the sentence- but it was one combined thought- I said the Hail Mary and Our Lord's Prayer and they retreated......they will always do that when confronted- they want weak souls to influence but they are harmless. Your beliefs are stronger than theirs....but still, they are scary when one doesn't get them........

When I was about 10 years old, my brothers and sisters and I used to play on our front lawn which was on a knoll overlooking a valley. It dropped off on one side quite sharply with bushes growing on the slope. For quite a long time I thought I saw the shadow of someone watching us from the bushes. It, or he, as it seemed to be male for some reason, seemed to crawl up the bank and peer over to watch us play. I could see it with my peripheral vision, but no matter how fast I would turn to look, it would disapear.

I told my brother about it and he said that he saw it too. So we hatched a plan to distract it so that one of us could catch a good look at it.

When I was sure it wasn't watching me, I turned quickly and looked right at it! I'm not sure who was more startled, me, who saw that it really was there or, it, when it saw that I had observed it directly on! It was just a black shadow and it seemed to be flat like a shadow even. After that, it hung out further down the hill as if it were afraid of being seen again. Eventually, we never saw it again. I think it was more afraid of us as we were of it!

I can't believe other people have seen these. This is great! Anyway, it's possible that they are just ghosts or even angels and when we are children, we can see them only as shadows. After we grow up, we can't see them at all anymore.

Thanks for letting me share this.
Bob

A few months before my mother died, she and my sister were discussing strange happenings at our old home. My mother stated that she had seen a dark shape originate from the closet in her bedroom several times, and she proceeded to describe this being as appearing to be wearing a dark cowl covering the upper torso.

My sister was amazed by my mother's description of the shape that she had remembered as standing over her crib and poking her with a bony finger. They called me and asked if I had had any sightings in the house and I told them of the shadowy being that constantly stood at the foot of my bed, leaving me with a fear of the night so strong that I would not go to sleep without my covers wrapped around my head forming a blindfold for my eyes. But I can still remember sensing this thing and knowing if I looked out from under my makeshift blindfold that I would see it standing there.

My brother also told us of the little man that would come out of the closet just about every night and stay in his room. His shadow figure was more viewable even allowing my brother to describe that strange tam-like hat the being wore.

All of us will admit to the fact that going up to our rooms, a sense of anxiety would start at the base of your feet as you started up the steps, easing somewhat after you got to your room and checked out for the dark ones. But, none of us would come down those steps alone and turn our backs to the landing. We would back down those steps, believe it or not. It still makes my skin crawl when I talk about it.

Feel free to use this on your site.

I, too, have seen shadow beings for most of my life. I can't remember the first time because it seems they have always been around. But unlike most people I don't feel that they are "evil" or even scary. Nor do I think they are particularly good or helpful, they are just sort of "around" and curious.

The only exception to this is when my family first moved to the rural area where my parents still live in Indiana. I was out, a typical lonely 10-year-old kid, hiking in the woods. Seeing "them" even a group of "them" was nothing new to me, but this time out of boredom, curiosity, whatever, I started throwing sticks, rocks, dirt, whatever I could get my hands on at them and they began to chase me. I think they could have caught me if they had really wanted to, but for whatever reason, they didn't, and I made it back to the house. For a long time they seemed to look at me with a sort of nasty intent, but I don't really blame them, as I had "attacked" them first.

I still see them frequently (I will soon be 35), sometimes one or two at a time, sometimes in a large group. The animosity seems to have faded a great deal and they just seem to be curiously observing again, and that is how it has been for the last 10 years or so. Now I just sort of wave and say "hi" or I don't pay any attention to them at all. I see them in my house sometimes, but mostly in the yard (I live in town now) and when I go to visit my parents, who still live in the house we lived in when the incident with me throwing things happened, I almost always see them around. I have no idea what they are, but I have learned from experience. to just take a "live and let live" approach.

I lived in a small old house in a small town called Borden... in the state of Indiana. I was in the 6th grade, age 11. This would make it the year of 1989. There were 2 shadows I witnessed in this home. Sense then I had always referred to them as the shadow people... but not until this year 2003 have I heard mention of others with alike experiences. In an odd sense.. it makes me glad to know that I am not the only one.

One shadow that seemed to dwell in the home... I saw every night while I was trying to sleep. I'd see something over to the side as if someone was getting ready to come in the room... and there was the figure of a shadow... peeking his head around the corner at me. This shadow would pop his head peeking at me...continuously. More like it was watching over me. Or curious maybe?

The other shadow... did not give me a good feeling. He stood before me... in full form... a dark shadow that seemed to be dressed... I could make out he was wearing a coat of some kind and a hat of some kind. This shadow gave me a very scary feeling.. I was so scare that I jumped out of bed... ran around him down the stairs found my way to the living room and sat there for two hours it felt like.... shivering and crying. My mother woke up and found me sitting there, me hardly able to speak when she asked me what was wrong.

This is just one of many "paranormal" stories I have to tell... The only shadow people story I have to tell. The home I lived in, during the 6th grade, was the one and only home I lived in to witness shadow people. My mother and sister also say they seen a "ghost" while living in the home. Although their story is different from mine, they said they had seen an old lady standing near the stairs in her night gown. Well, I hope this helps out a little more with your research on the shadow people. I've waited I guess about 15 years now.... just to know that others have seen the shadow people as well.

If you post this on your site... please, no name.... or my email address posted. I just want to help out with the research.
Thanks

Hello, my name is Nick. I was JUST NOW sitting here typing on my computer when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. The first time it didn't really bother me, then I saw it again. I thought to myself, "Ok maybe I'm just tired". No. The third time it went by I turned my head and saw it...it was a male, about 6'8-7'ft. I then turned around to see if anyone was behind me...when I turned back around, it was to my left, probably 6 inches away from my face (face to face with it) and it scared me. So when I jumped, I turned my head and when I turned back, it was gone.

I immediately ran to my mom's room where my mom and her boyfriend were.

I told them what happened (they have experienced other stuff in the past) and my mom's boyfriend and I started describing what we both have seen. We both said "about 6'8-7'ft, black "shadow", and wearing a hat (kinda like a wide brimmed hat all the way around). I'm sitting here typing this to you and I'm...scared I guess you could say, I don't know what they want, who they are, or what they are gonna do. So I guess the point of this email is: I have a few questions. My first one is: Can they hurt me? The second: Can you tell me maybe why there here or what they want? And third: Can I get rid of them?

I would appreciate it if you would write me back and maybe give me some answers as to who or what these things are and maybe, what they want with me or my family!

Thanks again

It was many years ago when I saw this shadow person. I was about 6 years old. At night I would get scared and crawl into bed with my sister or grandparent. It was on one of these nights that I witnessed this shadow person.

I was laying in the bed next to my grandfather. I was in my room and it was pitch black. It was so dark that I could barely see anything. Then, right in front of me on my dresser was a shadow of a person sitting there. This person seemed to be male to me. The shadow was shaped as if this person had on a black hooded robe. I remember the eyes like two tiny red Christmas lights. I lay as possibly still as I could. I was so scared that I didn't want to speak and wake up my grandfather. I was just that scared. The strange thing I remember about this shadow person was that 'cupped' in it's hand seemed to be these little pieces of light; like the size of bread crumbs. Though he picked slowly from his hand and brought the crumb of light to his mouth, I could only see one crumb at a time disappear beyond the darkness of his mouth. I blinked several times to be sure I was not imagining this, nor was it possible that I was dreaming.

Even though the room was completely dark this shadow outline was darker than the room. Many years later as an adult, I can still recall what I saw vividly. In a conversation I was having with my sister about the house we lived in as children, she confirmed this memory. She said that she would see shadows all the time moving up and down the hall. Sometimes, they would look at her through the crack in her bedroom door. I knew it was real.

Hello,

My name is Karolyn. I lived in Mexico City for five years from 1994 to 1999. I just got back in my home country Canada in 1999 because my father died in that year and then my mom also died, but last year. I have "felt" my father as a shadow people many times since he passed away. But this is not what I want to share. I want to share this :

So when I was in Mexico City, I have experienced shadow people very strongly because I did saw "him", and so did my roomate, 2 days before I did.

I was writing my Ph.D thesis on my computer late at night. Like 2:00 am on a Thursday night. Then I realized I was being "stared at" on the corner of the wall, by the corridor. So I thought it was my roomate spying on me so I looked at her. What I saw lasted for a very short fraction of a second. I saw eyes and long hair, and a super-super-slim body, greyish-beige. It vanished as soon as I put my eyes on "it"... I really got scared. I thought I was overwhelmed by the amount of work I had to do for my thesis so I went to bed and I had a hard time falling asleep that night.

On sunday afternoon, I was going to have dinner with my roomate, so in the cab, I finally told her what had happened to me on Thursday night and she got very pale : She had saw the same thing on Tuesday and also thought that "it" was me. With long hair, huge eyes and a tiny-tiny-slim body, greying or beige, as short as a Mexican-Indian...

It totally freaked us out. Now that I am in Canada, I still talk to my ex-roomate who is still in Mexico City. We still talk about this. It freaked us big time.

That is what I wanted to share. I think they are extradimensional, thus "aliens", in the full extent of the word.

Thank you.

It was on my 13th birthday. I was sleeping in the living room with a few friends when I woke up for no apparent reason. I looked on my ceiling and I saw a silhouette of a man so clearly that I could see the space in between the curls in his hair. There is no possibility that this is a normal shadow since there was no light source on the ground and the shadow was cast on the ceiling.

I put my head under the covers and said the lord's prayer. I looked up again to see if I really saw it or if it was gone and it was still there. I stared at it till I fell asleep around three.

I consider myself a pretty clear-headed individual and I haven't seen anything like that since, though I still live in the same house. My neighbor claimed to have seen something similiar in her backyard that spooked her dog. I didn't take her very seriously since she is a crackhead, but I asked around and learned that before the housing project, this area was empty field and people would avoid this area and consider it haunted.

I theorize that a lot of horror writers have utilized actual experiences in dealing with these including Robert Block (Enoch) and Terry Brooks ( the Running with the Demon series).

My name is Joe, I'm 17 and live in Vancouver Washington.

Ever since I was very little I have seen things and heard things most did not or was not around to hear. I heard names being called and shadows move. The first sighting i remember clearly was about the age of 10 when I awoke one night to use the restroom and saw a shadow person in my living room, blacker than the black of the room, It was looking around so I stood there unable to make a sound; however, finally got a deep breathe and it heard it and moved rather quickly however evaporating is the best word to be used.

When I was over my friends house there were 3 of us there and the other 2 when out to check on something outside, but i stayed inside to sleep a little longer and saw little black wisps everywhere and they turned into at least 10 shadow people just staring at me not moving just staring. I felt no fear, I just got up and walked out of the room. This was a few weeks ago. And there are many more if you wish to hear of them.

I've only told my husband about my shadow people. However,,,I was compelled to type it on the web. I was stunned to find ya all. I see shadow people all the time. Mostly when I'm alone. It seems. I've came to think of them as angels. They flutter around me and around my house and outside. Even took a tour of our new boat we bought. When I look at them they disappear...but then they are back. I'm afraid that if I tell people about my shadow mates...that they will go away. And I feel safe around them. Most of the time. However there were a couple of times that I got a feeling of darkness or loneliness. I guess I'll find out now that I've written you if they still hang around. I'm not afraid of them. I even talk to them.

A friend & I were asking each other random questions one night to get to know each other better. Then he asked me if I've ever seen anything supernatural such as a ghost. I told him to answer first because I thought my answer was rIdiculous. When he finished his story, I told this story...

I was around the age of 3 or 4 and I was still sleeping in my crib at night. One night I woke up and stood at the side of my crib, gripping the railing. Everything was quiet except for the sound of my 2 brothers sleeping. I had a greenish lava lamp as a nightlight and I watched the lava moving around when suddenly I saw a black figure rise from beneath my crib that seemed to just exist between my crib & lava lamp. It had the classic ghostly shape only it was black and had red eyes. It seemed to be watching me merely out of curiousity & although I was afraid of the dark, this strange being did not frighten me. I told it "BOO!" and it slid back beneath my crib. I have never seen anything like it since. My mom tried to convince me that it was only a shadow from the lava lamp. This sounded reasonable but I still saw those red eyes. I did not know if this was just a dream that I had and convinced myself was real or not but I felt that it was real. I believed to this day it was real.

After I had told my story to my friend, he looked at me in amazement & asked if I had ever heard of shadow people. I told him no and he told me that it was what I had seen. He told me to look it up online & I found your site. I have never heard a story similar to mine until today. Now I know what I saw was real.

I have been living in the house I am in now for almost two years. During that time there have been several occurrences of what compares to other peoples' sightings of shadow people. About a year ago I awoke to find a head of a man staring and floating over the edge of bed beside my husband. I screamed at it to leave and it just evaporated or dissolved.

Not very long after that, maybe a couple of months, I woke up in the middle of the night to find a full length shadow of what appeared to be the shape of a man hovering over my husband's body beside. I sat up quickly and gasped. When I did, the shape turned into what I can only describe as a ricocheting shadow bouncing off my walls before exiting the room through the door.

There have been other occurrences, shadow and otherwise but just very recently I fell asleep in my son's bed and awoke in the middle of night to see 4 shadow blobs with yellow eyes kind of hunched over on my son's dresser staring at us. I closed my eyes a little afraid and when I opened them, they were gone.

My son says he has seen a large shadow of a man come out of his closet in the middle of the night.

It might seem even stranger but I think that they actually have entered through the closet in my bedroom. There have been times when I have stayed up late and am the last person in bed. I always make sure to close the closet door in my bedroom but in the morning the closet door will be open.

I am sure that these won't be the last contact I have.

For years I've been afraid to say anything about my experiences with the "Shadowpeople". Was I dreaming? Was I seeing things? Who would believe me? One day while on the computer, I decided to do a search on "Shadowpeople" and to my astonishment this page came up. I've always been open to strange things.

My whole life I've had deja vu on a regular basis and in the past few years my deja vu has turned into what I call a "3-peat deja vu", I experience the same thing 3 times instead of 2. I've seen the Shadowpeople for as long as I can remember, 3-4 times a year, usually after waking up and always at night. I'd see a figure standing at the bottom of my bed, sometimes sitting on my bed, looking at me. I use to gasp thinking someone was in my room, and then "it" just disappeared. I'd shrug it off thinking I was dreaming, but then a few times while just laying in bed in a half sleep, I'd get the feeling "someone was watching me"....I'd open my eyes and the shadowperson was reaching toward me...then "it" disappeared again as if surprised I could see it. But what really convinced me of the "Shadowpeople" was when I got a beagle dog 2 years ago. She sleeps in bed with me and is very protective.

One night she growled at the bottom of the bed, and her hair stood up, I caught shadowperson out of the corner of my eye....then "it" was gone. My beagle does this on occasion and even goes to the bottom of the bed and sniffs around. "I'm convinced she sees it too". A few times shadowperson lingered, but never longer than about 10 seconds. Maybe someday "it" will show me it's true self instead of fading away....but then, do I really want to know?

When I was 12 years old I had a strange experience. One night I was awakened by the feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around my room and saw no one, although I had a strange feeling that someone had sat on the edge of my bed. I laid back down and shut my eyes but couldn't shake the feeling that there was still someone there. I sat up and looked around again. When I looked in the mirror I saw something I had not expected. There was a man sitting on the edge of my bed. He had a trench coat on and a hat but I couldn't make out any other features. He was a shadow. One thing did stand out. He had the amazing red eyes. But when I looked on the bed there was no one there. I looked back at the mirror and he was gone. I saw him several times after that in the mirror but never actually in the room. After that I took the mirror out and I have never had another mirror in my room since.

I didn't see him again and didn't really think about him for 2 years until a good friend and I started to talk about ghosts. I decided to bring up my shadow man. I described him and what had happened but I decided to leave out the red eyes. The look he had on his face made my feel like he thought I was crazy. But when I finished my story the first words out of his mouth were "did he have red eyes?" All I could do was nod. He told me of his stories and the man I saw seemed to be the same man I saw.

Within five years later I had seen the man with red times only a couple of times and around that time, I was no longer afraid of him. He usually just sat and watched me. Shortly after my daughter was born, I had let her stay in bed with me one night when I was woke up again with the feeling that someone was in the room. I looked at the foot of my bed and I saw a different shadow man. When I looked at him he reached over and tried to grab me or my daughter. I covered both of us up and he disappeared. I never saw him again.

Hello,

I have always had a sense of having something watching me. I cant say it is a bad feeling, just more like 'uneasy.' I have a very clear memory of when I was a young child; I had to have been about three because I was still sleeping in a crib. I remember something in the crib playing with me and it was a dark shadow. I was scared until it started to play patty-cat with me. It did not have a face; only a dark small form with distinct hands. It disappeared when my mom and dad came upstairs to go to bed. My crib was in their room.

I just had an experience the other day with a friend. We work in a big care facility and were assisting a resident. My friend and I were talking and she suddenly turned her head toward the bathroom and turned pale as a ghost. She said that out of the corner of her eye she saw movement and it was a dark figure moving fast toward her out of the bathroom. When she turned to look, it disappeared. She never saw a face just a dark form of about 5 feet tall. Many strange things happen in this room. We call 'that room,' the room with the death bed. Many people have passed away in this bed. I have witnessed lights being turned on and off in here. It is always kind of spooky feeling.

I feel I am more perceptive to these things now. I see things all the time out of the corner of my eye, and find it very comforting to have found your website. I love this site. Keep up the good work for us all who have had experiences!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

I was referred to this site by a dear friend of mine trying to help me out.

About 7 years ago, I was working as a bus driver in NYC. It was an overcast kind of day in May 1995, about 12:20pm in the afternoon. My bus was not crowded, as it could have been working in NYC; as a matter of fact it was somewhat empty, with just a few passengers.

I was stopped at a red light, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw the silhouette of my older brother, standing behind and to the side of me. I knew he couldn't have possibly been there as he worked in Manhattan and I was in the Bronx; not to mention he wouldn't have known what route I was on.

The figure stood there for a few minutes, 2-3 minutes I'd say. Then when I looked around, it was gone. I was so panicky; I didn't know what to do as this never happened to me before. I got off work at 1:30pm. A religious woman(co-worker), basically started to preach to me how Jesus Christ has died for us, so that we may be forgiven of our sins, so that we may live. I didn't understand why, but I just started crying hysterically thinking of the possible implication of what it may mean, although according to what she spoke of, to believe this we will be alright in the afterlife.

Well, to try to cut the story short, my 37 year-old brother died the following March in 1996. Since then, the connection I make is that when I see these 'shadows', it foretells me of what is to come of someone close to me.

Well it is now June 2003, and a few weeks ago, the same thing happened, but this time the shadow was my husband, who is very much alive, who was watching TV in our bedroom, while I was in the kitchen preparing dinner. Again, I panicked and was thinking 'Oh God, don't let this happen to me again' I told my husband what happened and of course, he reassured me he wasn't going anywhere. My husband is 36 years of age. I don't know what all this means but I sure need some help in figuring all this out so I don't lose my mind. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I thank you all for your wisdom in this matter.

Hey, I couldn't believe other people have seen and felt these entities.... Here's my encounter:

This happened when I was 19yo. We used to live in a small, 2-bedroom house. Other strange things happened in this house which not only my family, but guests saw as well. However, none were as terrifying as the following encounter with this strange shadow-being.

Being the lazy-bum that I usually am on the weekends....this one Saturday I was still laying in bed around 10 a.m. I was awake,...just laying there complaining in my mind about all the dam light that came into my room which woke me up earlier than I wanted to. I was laying on my back, looking up at the ceiling when suddenly I felt a strong pressure on my chest....so heavy, this feeling, the atmosphere changed in a matter of seconds. I couldn't breath right, the air was too thick to breath and my room was suddenly freezing cold. I tried to get up to get more air... When I managed to sit up halfway, I became paralyzed at the sight of this dark, outline of a human man leaning against my door. I saw it clearly since there was so much light in my room.

There was no face or eyes, just dark all over. The figure of a male definitely, it stood about 5'8 tall and his arms were crossed right on his chest and his right leg was crossed over his left as he leaned against the door. It was like a shadow but it didn't need the walls to appear on, it stood on its own...leaning against my door...and although I couldn't make out a face or eyes....I knew it was starring at me. I felt threatened and tried to scream but no sound came out of my mouth, I tried to move but it felt as though someone was holding me down. Horrified that I couldn't move or breathe or scream, I shut my eyes hard and started to cry. After about 2 minutes, the room temperature went back to normal; I realized I was able to breathe better so I opened my eyes. The man was gone.

I don't know who or what it was, but I had the distinct feeling of an evil threat near me. It was real and I hope I NEVER encounter it again.

Hello,

I wanted to share my own, quite chilling, story with you. When I was about 4 or 5 I lived in Celina, Ohio on Grand Lake. One night as I lay in bed I felt as if I was being watched. When I looked up I noticed a very tall shadow being cast from outside through my window onto my hanging curtains. These curtains were quite thick.

I hid my head under my blankets while I waited for it to leave. It didn't. Eventually I got so frightened that I leapt from my bed and ran to the middle of the living room that my room connected to. I stood in the middle of the room as I looked back and saw the shadow move quite quickly from that window to all of the windows on the side and eventually on the front of the house... stopping at the front door. I felt as I was compelled to open the front door. I resisted and ran to my parent's room banging on the door. My mother seemed to brush off anything that I said, and mentioned that the neighbors had company, and maybe that was what I was noticing.

Either way I was quite frightened.

Another story, of almost opposite connotation was what happened to me about 2 years later when I was living with foster parents during a very long separation of my parents. I was sleeping in the upstairs room and for several nights in a row I would wake up at around 6am to see what I would call "golden angels" (beings of light that appeared fuzzy when you tried to focus on them), walking out of the room across the hall in single file. The first night they merely came out and walked downstairs, the second they were carrying what I called a sword, but is better described as an extension of the same substance they were made of but appearing as a silhouette of something being carried... perhaps a stick. ON the third and final night, they would touch this thing to another golden object on the floor, as if it were a rock or something. I felt no fear from this experience, only pure interest.

I'm a janitor at a hospital. I work from 9 P.M to 5:30 A.M. & one of the areas I cover is the Cath Lab. I've had multiple encounters with Shadow people. The incidents have always been on the edge of my peripheral vision & they are always humanoid in form. I know it's not my eyesight because I get my eyes checked regularly & I don't think it's my imagination, because the incidents only take place in the Cath Lab and nowhere else. One thing is for sure, they are very shy! They are there one second & gone the next.

Clarification:

a "Cath Lab" stands for Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. It is a laboratory where doctors insert a tube into the veins or arteries of patients to perform various medical procedures for a better physical assessment of the health of the heart.

My story isn't very long, but I vowed to myself as a small child that I would never ever forget what I saw.

The women in my family all have the abilities to see paranormal activity, whether we want to or not. Some of us are deeply religious and don't seek these things out in the least, and yet they still find us.

The very first experience I had, that I can remember anyway, happened when I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. It was important enough, though, that I told myself, as if an adult were speaking into my little ears, "Don't ever forget this, so long as you live, don't ever forget it."

We lived in a little house on Grant Street in Danville, Illinois. Upstairs were 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. One of the rooms was made into a play room for me and my sisters. It was early in the evening when my mother was helping me and my younger sister clean up the play room. She told me to take something into the bedroom. I don't remember what, but I do remember I was carrying my favorite doll. This doll was all plastic, even the hair on its head was just painted onto the plastic. The bedroom was right across the hall from the play room. The door to my bedroom was open. I just walked right into the bedroom, holding my doll, when I saw that behind the door was what I could only perceive as being a shadow, but it was a person, almost gorilla like in its stance. It tried to grab me, but instead it scratched my doll's head. There was a long scratch in the paint on my doll. I ran out of the room, but didn't tell my mother anything because I thought she wouldn't believe me.

I am now 27 years old, but through all these years I've remembered that shadow figure. The doll is long gone. My sisters and I have all seen various things through the years, and my mother has told us of things she's seen and heard, but I have never told anybody about this because it was so scary to me that I haven't wanted to say it out loud. I haven't seen another shadow figure since.

While browsing online for something completely unrelated I found a message board where somebody had brought up the subject of shadow people. That was the first I'd heard of anyone else seeing anything like what I'd seen. In a way its comforting, but then again I'm wondering now if I'll ever see another one. I sincerely hope I don't.

So, anyway, that's my story.

Melissa in Peoria, IL
