Subject: Shadow people

Hello, Sir or Mam.

What I am going to tell you is the same stories that I have many people for the last 20 years. I am not concerned in the least that someone may scoff.

First I'd like to tell you that I am a full-time Police Officer in my 40's with more than 18 years experience. I am very seasoned at describing what I observe.

In 1989 I moved in with my parents when I came home from military service. Very soon I began to experience weird goings on. I woke one night to the sound of a music box playing in our attic. I listened to it for quite some time before falling asleep again. Another time I woke to the sound of the silverware drawer in the kitchen being opened and slammed shut a few times. I got up and searched the house with a gun because I was convinced someone had broken in and was looking for something to steal.

A couple times that I fell asleep on the couch in the living room, I woke up with a unseen hand squeezing my face and I couldn't move until the hand released me. I could actually feel 5 fingertips putting pressure on my face, although I never got up to check for any marks or evidence, I have to admit that waking up like that always scared me pretty bad and I didn't want to get up.

Soon, I began to see shadow people "darting" across the hallway from the periphery of my vision. My father saw them too and we called them "shadow people" or ghosts. We had never heard the term shadow people and in fact I'd never heard it anywhere else until I heard it on Coast to Coast A.M. a couple of years ago. I couldn't really tell where they came from, but it looked like they came out one wall and into the other- at first.

I had a construction job at the time and I remember telling one of my co-workers about "the shadows". I think he thought I was putting him on until he saw one at our house- the convincing thing for him is that it was outside my father's den window. We were in the den playing "Hunt for Red October" on my Dad's Apple computer one day after work when this shadow person suddenly moved into view on the outside of the window, paused, and then moved away. The window is approximately 5-1/2 feet off the ground and the shadow seemed like it was walking by, stopped to see what we were doing and then kept going in the same direction (East to West). It was late afternoon/early evening and very much daylight outside in late September.

Perhaps the weirdest event was the next Spring. I had a different job by this time, working in a warehouse. My best friend (not the construction worker) and I both got off work at 2:30 in the afternoon, although he worked somewhere else. I'd told him about the shadow people before, but like the other guy, I think he dismissed my stories as annoying lies. On this one day, my friend came over after work like he usually did and were sitting at a table in my parents' recreation room, beside the back door. The back door had a window and there was a window in the wall beside that. Outside the door was a large wooden deck my father and I built when I came home from the military.

Anyway, it was approximately 3 p.m. and suddenly my friend and I hear someone walking on the wooden deck and it sounded like they were wearing cowboy boots. It was loud and very distinct. Suddenly, a shadow person walks past the window in the door and my friend looks at me with a expression that looked like he sat on a thumbtack. I told him "it's one of those shadow people". At once, we both ran out the back door onto the deck and saw no one there. We ran around the house in opposite directions and met up in front and neither of us saw anyone. No more than 10 or 12 seconds could have passed from the time we saw the shadow until we met on the opposite and outside of the house. The home is in a semi-rural area and there was absolutely no place for anyone to hide, at least not within the few seconds we searched.

My parents still live there, but I don't know if they still experience anything there or not. Since I moved out 18 years ago we haven't discussed it. The house was built in 1974 and there's no mysterious history that we're aware of.

By the way. My friend who helped me search outside for the noisy shadow person had also just finished military service and is now a Police Officer also.

Sincerely, Tom M. in Ohio.
