Subject: Pretending to be my cats?

Hi there, I just found your site today and am so happy it exists.

Some background info: I am in my early 30s, female, and have had paranormal experiences my entire life, more so as a child and teen but still a few times/year as an adult. Raised Catholic, currently agnostic. I am logical and have been told my intelligence is above average but am certainly not a genius or anything like that, just have a bachelor's degree in zoology. I am very open to supernatural things, however, because of all the strange experiences I've had. The most recent thing that happened was a couple of months ago, August 2016, in Southern Wisconsin.

I woke up, got out of bed and walked toward my hall to go to the bathroom. All of the lights were off, there was just a small amount of filtered streetlight coming through the blinds behind me.

My room is at the end of the hall, which is about 12 feet long. There is one door on each side of the hall, one is the bathroom, one is a second bedroom. The hall ends in the dining room. The dining room connects to the living room on the right with no wall between. In the living room there is a sliding door with Venetian blinds with a little more streetlight showing through.

When I got to my doorway I saw my two cats sitting on the dining room floor. It suddenly occurred to me that they were too big to be my cats. I froze in my bedroom doorway staring at them. They looked like two black two-dimensional lumps. The room was dark, but they were darker like they were made of blackness. One was slightly larger than the other. They did not move but I felt like they were staring at me. I felt like they were caught there accidentally and possibly tried to disguise themselves as my cats, as bizarre that sounds, that's the impression I got.

I have seen shadow people in the corner of my bedroom before, and little shadow creatures on roadsides, so I knew what I was looking at, but I was trying to rationalize what could be causing a shadow right there. I felt afraid, but not terrified like I have been of the ones who are huge and stand in corners watching you sleep. It was like I had caught them off guard and we were in a standoff. It was probably only a few seconds but it felt like time was moving slightly slower than normal.

I decided to make the first move and rushed forward to flick the bathroom light on. They did not move when I rushed at them, just disappeared when the light came on, just like a shadow would. I tuned the light back off to see if I could find something causing the shadow but they were gone.

I do not think they're ghosts, I don't get the same feeling as with ghosts or demonic type things. I think they may be inter-dimensional 'living' creatures. Some have seemed oppressive; some have seemed mischievous. I have never met one who seemed calming or protective like some people describe. Most of the ghosts I have seen, felt, or been messed with by have not had good vibes either but there have been a few.

Maybe I attract negative ones for some reason, or maybe I've been having psychological manifestations since I was an infant, but I haven't been told by anyone that I hallucinate anything else in daily life like schizophrenia. For full disclosure- I have hallucinated while using mushrooms or LSD in my teens and twenties, a couple of times having shared hallucinations, but I suspect it makes you more able to see things that are really there that most people can't see, similar to what another poster said about methamphetamine use.

Please feel free to share my story but not my name. Thank you for giving us this forum to share experiences!
