Hi Colleen,
Interesting to say the least. I have shared my experience here of my Mom's passing, I will put it in a nutshell.
The night before my Mom passed, my grandmother and great aunt, who have both passed over years ago, came into the room, and appeared to be doing a cleansing ritual. Yes, I did see this. There was also a 3rd spirit; I have no knowledge who he was, just theories. He stood watching the cleansing ritual. When they were finished with Mom, they left, except for the 3rd spirit; he remained till the time of her passing.
Now my Mom was in a nursing home with Alzheimer's, then, went into the hospital due to kidney failure. I was with her all the time she was in the hospital, right till her passing, I never left her side. I know at her passing she accepted it and went on. Yes, she does come back to visit us.
Now, my theories, not experiences...
I feel if we have accepted our passing, we will go on to where we have to. I also feel we can come back and visit friends and loved ones. I do feel for whatever reason guilt, not accepting our passing or any other reason, if we do not want to go with the entity that is there to help us in our passing, we are not made to go at that time.
Somehow no proof, I know, no one is alone in their passing, no matter what the circumstances, there is always someone there to greet us, but the choice to go is ours.
That is my experience, belief and theory.
